History

On K'Tharr, a distant planet not unlike Earth, a near perfect society lived in peace for thousands of years. Governed by a ruling High Council, the highly advanced civilization had become known across the galaxy for its achieved level of peace and prosperity. However, K'Tharr was praised amongst its allies for one reason above all others: their leading officer and magistrate, Cal Khurr'en.

Revered by others for his moral standard and sense of truth and justice, Cal Khurr'en, Praetorean to the planet K'Tharr, served both the common people and the High Council with equal respect. No task was ever too small for the Praetorean, lending his services to whomever was in need of even the slightest assistance. Considered a public hero and K'Tharrian symbol, his responsibilities often extended to members of the Allied Planets, and he was rewarded and honored on regular occasion by their governments for his services.

The time came, however, when the High Council decided to spread their alliance even further, seeking out hopeful civilizations and planets across the vastness of space. In a time of change and hope, the planet Earth was discovered by one of the founding members of the High Council. Considered to be a world of immense opportunity, Earth was deemed a priority for the Allied Planets and for K'Tharr. It was decided that one of their own would go to Earth, and investigate the planet before the High Council would motion for Earth's inclusion into the Alliance. Immediately, the people began to clamor, wondering who the Council would send as their Representative into the far reaches of space.

Upon hearing the urgency of the mission, Cal spoke directly with the High Council, expressing his interest and excitement at the possibility of travelling to this unheard of world. The matter was discussed amongst the members of the Council, and everyone agreed Cal was most qualified and would best represent K'Tharr and its people. The decision was unanimous. Word spread almost instantly and the entire populace rejoiced, praising the High Council for its decision, and boasting of Cal Khurr'en and his coming adventure.

Cal studied his destination closely, gathering what little bit of information he could concerning the tiny planet before he departed. However, none of his studies could have ever prepared him for what he would face upon arriving. He was amazed at the vast similarities Earth held with K'Tharr. The people were almost identical to his own, save perhaps their strange attire and their even stranger mannerisms. The small world was a center of different races and ethnic groups, and Cal marveled at their very different lifestyles. Cal was also confused at how easily these people had let their differences disturb their own hopeful possibilities. He wouldn't let these minor circumstances sway him from his mission, however, and immediately, Cal began his study of Human nature and their way of life.

Cal began to notice changes within himself, as well. His native K'Tharrian strength had vastly increased, and with the passing of time, he came to realize that his body had stopped aging completely. Things were different here, that was certain. The peace and tranquility Cal had left behind on K'Tharr were almost nonexistent here. Everywhere he turned, Earth was faced with a new threat, both of foreign origin, and of the peoples' own doing. For twenty five years, Cal protected Earth, without the recognition or praise he had so often received on K'Tharr. He had come to love his role here on this strange planet, and even more so, he had come to love its people.

Finally, the time came for Cal to return home with his report of Earth and its people. In spite of all the disorder and strange happenings he had seen during his time there, he did indeed care for the people and could find no reason that K'Tharr should turn its back away from the still hopeful planet. His report would tell of all the amazing things he had experienced, about the people and their capacity for knowledge and understanding. It would explain how so much was still uncertain concerning the planet's future, and how, with the help of a society such as K'Tharr, Earth could even one day surpass their prosperity and greatness. Cal's excitement could barely be refrained, and he waited eagerly to tell the High Council of his findings.

His joy of returning home was ended abruptly, however, when he arrived to find K'Tharr completely destroyed. It was gone. There were no remaining structures, no remaining people, the entire planet was obliterated. The entire region was empty, completely void of any life, as if K'Tharr were never there. Cal was devastated. He wandered hopelessly across the galaxy, searching for answers, for any evidence that might guide him to some conclusion as to the dismal fate of his home, and his people. He learned nothing, not even from K'Tharr's former allies. Finally, after exhausting all of his resources, and with nowhere else to turn, Cal returned to the only other place he knew. . . . . . Earth.

Cal arrived on Earth a second time, alone and heartbroken. He was alone on this world, and even more so, he was alone in the Universe. No one would understand his loss, nor would he ever manage to fit in where so many had already found their place. He felt as if he were being punished for some crime he had unwittingly committed. Here he was, all alone, and apparently no older than he was the day he had left from K'Tharr. He imagined living his life here, forever alone, and the thought made him sick. His entire world was gone, and with it everything he had ever loved. So much had crossed his mind, and he felt at fault for K'Tharr's destruction. Had he been there, perhaps he could have done something to prevent it, or in the very least, he wouldn't be here, on Earth, suffering his loss alone.

All of that was chased away, however, when Cal realized how much the planet had changed since his departure, and it was no more evident anywhere on Earth more so than here in Paragon City. Yes, it was a City of Heroes, but with that came so much more. The streets were ravaged by violence and crime, and with all their power, the heroes here had barely managed to keep the gangs and villain groups at bay. Immediately Cal was reminded why he was here, and recalled the hope he had once held for this planet and its people. The idea of Earth facing the same fate suffered by K'Tharr was a sobering thought, and Cal refused to see that come to pass. Earth was now his home, and he intended to help keep it safe.

Groups

The United Planetary Coalition

Cal had little knowledge concerning the Allied Planets after K'Tharr's destruction, and was oblivious to the fact that the Alliance had indeed continued on without K'Tharr's leadership. Not only had the Alliance carried on, but it had grown, immensely, in fact, and Cal was completely surprised when he was contacted by the heads of the newly titled United Planetary Coalition. He was asked to take on an active role, as Representative of his peoples' ideals and standards, within the High Council of the United Planetary Coalition. Cal considered it an honor to represent his people, to be a symbol for all that K'Tharr stood for; he immediately accepted the position and its responsibilities, to maintain watch over his current home, the planet Earth.

Eventually, becoming so involved with his new life on Earth, Cal slowly began to lose sight of his responsibilities within the Council and was scorned by his superiors. Forced to choose between his position and his love for Earth's people, Cal removed himself from the Coalition's High Council, and gave up his role as the last Praetorean of K'Tharr. Taking up the name Omnistar, which he had been recently called by a number of his peers within the Gods of the Golden Age, Cal continued his life on Earth, unashamed and unrepentant of his decision.

Recently, upon Cal's return from the apparent 'grave', he has once again been in contact with the Coalition, and they have granted him the title of K'Tharrian Praetorean once again. Cal has humbly and gratefully accepted the role.

The United Sentinels of America

Upon his second arrival on Earth, Cal was almost immediately approached by Lady America, one of the leading officers of the United Sentinels of America. He was offered membership, and Cal, considering this a chance to insert himself into human coexistence, accepted the offer. He made lasting friendships there, and even found romance with a fellow Sentinel, Strong Girl. His strong personality and kind spirit would soon bring about his promotion to the position of officer, a role that Cal held with respect and gratitude. However, a disagreement with a decision would lead to Cal's eventual departure from the group.

Gods of the Golden Age

Not long after leaving the United Sentinels of America, Cal approached the Gods of the Golden Age, a group that he had been formerly allied with. Seeking membership, and hoping to further his interaction with fellow heroes of the city, Cal was accepted into the group with open arms. He succeeded here the same as he had before, and rose quickly through the ranks. Cal was honored on several occasions and was eventually offered a leadership role. His apparent death at the hands of Tyrranos, however, would end all of this abruptly. Three months after his 'death', Cal would return, unfortunately to a different group. Everyone had moved on, and strangely, even with so many friends at his side, Cal felt alone again. These feelings would grow to be a strain on Cal, and eventually, he left the Gods of the Golden Age.

Weeks passed, and Cal had never felt more seperated and alone than he did now. Reflecting on his decision to leave the Gods of the Golden Age, Cal suffered a short period of depression, and longed to be with his friends once again. After a meeting with several members and friends, Cal was once again inducted into the group.

Personality

Cal has always been characterized by his very strong, very direct personality. He is respected by his peers for his uncompromising morals, and for his loyalty to his friends. Cal has made it a point to uphold this personal standard, always employing honesty and truth in every aspect of his life. He never lies.
