Redoubt Operations #2: Wrath of the Imperium
The Background
After their bid for control of the nation of Kalago has been thwarted by Redoubt and their heroic allies the Mechanius Imperium focuses it's ire squarely upon the forces of Redoubt as First Emperor Surtr declares total war against the organization. Needing fresh faces to enact his schemes the Emperor sends out agents from his State department to find willing agents to enact his schemes, promising them rewards in wealth, technology, and perhaps even immigrations into his nation, as reward for their assistance in his endeavor. With these new agents of discord at his disposal Emperor Surtr proceeds with his plan to not only crush the strength of Redoubt, but it's spirit as well. It is a plan that when completed will have Redoubt fighting against one another while the world turns it's back on the would be heroes.
The Emperor's plan is actually a fairly simple one. Unlike supergroups like the Freedom Phalanx and the Vindicators, Redoubt is a government organization controlled by the United Nations. They are therefore subject to the whims politicians and regulations imposed by their parent organization. The Emperor is already in possession of a soldier who can change his appearance in the form of Spectre. Having already assigned Spectre the task of studying the Secretary-General's habits and mannerisms the next step is to simply lure the Secretary-General to a location where the switch can be made. Once this is done the fake Secretary-General can move committee policy and take advantage of already present anti-Redoubt sentiment and issue a decree forcing the dissolution of Redoubt.
Surtr doesn't expect Redoubt to simply fold overnight from such a decree; however, the situation will cause a rift in the loyalties of Redoubt's personnel as some of them will side with the UN order and plan to disarm immediately, and some will side with Redoubt, seeking to delay disarming. Surtr then simply needs to force a wedge into this fracture, smashing the rift wide open and ensuring the two factions turn violently against each other.
Once this is done all that remains is to strike at the heart of the weakened Redoubt organization, Redoubt One. Already weakened by infighting, and cut off from UN resources it should be a simple matter to go in and crush what remains of Redoubt, ensuring that they will wither and die.
And now it's time for his plan to be put into action...
Mission 1 - Demolish Omnivision Dynamics
Mission Introduction
What drives you Character? Money? Power? Pleasure? Entertainment? I can see these things satisfied and all I ask is that you assist me in what drives me, ensuring the continued dominance of my Imperium over it's enemies. And as of late our most troublesome enemy are those misguided fools in Redoubt. In the past we have been tolerant of them, but no longer. It is time to utterly destroy them, and even you can be a part in this crusade.
Redoubt's biggest flaw is they trust the fleshbags in the United Nations to be their keepers. Already there exists sizable opposition in the UN to Redoubt's existence but the efforts of UN Secretary-General Elizabeth Choi have kept them in check until now. If we remove her then the UN will turn against Redoubt and 'I know just how to get to her'. And it's in a way I think you'll enjoy.
Mission Send Off
The Secretary-General's son Jonathon Choi works in a Crey Industries subsidiary called Omnivision Dynamics located in Skyway City. As we speak he's up on the 20th floor of the building toiling away. I want you to utterly destroy that building and everyone within it. The more explosive the better. This should cause the Secretary-General to rush to the scene of her spawn's demise in a panic and allow us to take her in the chaos.
Ha ha, just thinking about the carnage you're about to wreak amuses me. Now go forth and obliterate that building.
Mission Summary
The villains' team is charged with destroying the Omnivision Dynamics building, owned by Crey Industries. Once inside the villains need to get their way past Crey security to plant a series of explosions that when armed will reduce the entire skyscraper into a orange fireball that sprays debris and dust throughout Skyway City.
Mission Debriefing
Excellent, Character. The Paragon City news services are already showing footage of the cloud of debris chocking the air of Skyway City. My Intelligence department informs me that a group of Longbow are airlifting the Secretary-General to the area and should be arriving in your area shortly.

These charges consist of a high powered explosive attached to a large barrel of fuel which, when triggered remotely, will melt through the support structures of the building while it is consumed in a rising pillar of flame.

Mission 2 - Kidnap UN Secretary-General Elizabeth Choi
Mission Introduction
We've detected Longbow Helicopters carrying the UN Secretary-General entering the Paragon City limits and she will be arriving nearby your location shortly. All you need do is find the Secretary-General, eliminate her escort, and bring her into our custody.
Mission Send Off
I never get tired of how predictable the actions of fleshbags are in regards to their progeny. It makes manipulating them so easy. Once you have secured the Secretary-General I will send one of my own to impersonate her and take her place.
Ha ha, just thinking about the carnage you're about to wreak amuses me. Now go forth and obliterate that building.

Mission Summary
This mission takes place shortly after the first one. After the Omnivision Dynamics building has been scrubbed from the earth by the villain team's pyrotechnics display the streets of Skyway City swarm with Paragon Police Department first responders. The villain team however lays low until they see a group of Longbow Helicopters landing nearby, knowing that they will contain the UN Secretary-General. They then simply must go through the PPD in their way, tack out Choi's Longbow guardians, and deliver the politico into the hands of the Mechanius Imperium waiting to take her at the Extraction Point.
Mission Debriefing
I see my faith in your abilities is rewarded yet again Character. Say goodbye to Paragon City for now. It's time for you to make yourself scarce while we move on to the next phase in my plan.

Kidnapping Elizabeth Choi
You hand Elizabeth Choi over to the Mechanius Imperium. Once you do a white-skinned Imperium soldier morphs into a perfect copy of the real Secretary-General and slips into the chaos of Skyway City to pose as the genuine article. Only you and the Imperium know where the real Secretary-General is.

Mission 3 - Incite Redoubt Civil War
Mission Introduction
Greetings again Character. I trust you've enjoyed this past month of leisure since you acquired the UN Secretary-General for us. Madam Choi is enjoying our generous hospitality while our duplicate has been busy as I'm sure you've heard in the news. Thanks to his efforts the UN has withdrawn their support from Redoubt and talks of dissolution of the organization sap their morale and call their loyalties into question, as each of them contemplate how to respond if the UN dissolves them. Some are most loyal to their leader Gilgamesh and plan to follow him regardless of UN action while others seek to follow the UN without question.
Now is the perfect time for us to strike. We will drive a wedge between these two groups, turning grumbling dissent into lionized factions that will split Redoubt in twain and leave it a shattered husk of its former self. Go and gather your strike team and come back to me when you are ready.
Mission Send Off
I have located a fitting place to drive this wedge. Currently two high profile Redoubt officers are stationed at Kbamba Bay in Kalago. Fencer Naiad is a staunch supporter of Gilgamesh's policy and Redoubt, and Headway has been very vocal that he would support whatever policy the UN takes. Their field position means they have intermittent contact with Redoubt's leadership.
Research has fabricated a piece of each one's unique equipment. Crush both of them and plant our evidence on them. When their allies find their champion defeated and evidence they'll each assume that the other faction has taken to arms first and set out to subdue them. By the time Redoubt's leadership has made contact to re-establish control the conflict will have been raging for some time and stories of the battle will ripple through Redoubt, fracturing their power structure as Redoubt splits in two.

Mission Summary
After a month of has passed the villains are called upon by Surtr to act once more. After travelling to Kbamba Bay in Kalago they are charged with defeating both Fencer Naiad and Headway and planting two pieces of evidence on them. After each defeat a patrol sees their champion defeating and is fooled by the counterfeit proof and sets out to destroy the other faction. Since these patrols believe they've been compromised they attack anyone they see, Redoubt and villains team alike.
Mission Debriefing
Perfect Character. My plans have almost come to fruition. With the seed of mistrust planted it will grow and choke the life out of our enemy. We only need to give it a little time flourish before we will be able to strike at Redoubt's heart and cut it out. Keep that strike team close at hand Character, I shall have need of all of you shortly.

Planted Damaged Thruster Boot on Fencer Naiad
Headway's most distinguishing feature is his Spitfire Aeronautics custom thruster boots. The Imperium's Research department has made an uncanny copy, battle-damaged of course, which you planted on Fencer Naiad's inert body.

Planted a Gladorium Lunae hilt on Headway
Fencer Naiad is best known for wielding her pair of custom-built Gladorium Lunae nanotech blades in combat. Imperium Research has made a impressive damaged counterfeit hilt which you plant on the unconscious Headway.

Mission 4 - Establish Beachhead on Redoubt One
Mission Introduction
Your work has been most impressive thus far, Character. Now it is time to finally enact the revenge we have so carefully planned for. With Redoubt cut off from UN aid and their forces turned against each other it is time that we make a move against the heart of their organization. I want you to lead our assault on their headquarters in the Atlantic ocean, Redoubt One. Are you and your strike team ready to wreak some havoc?
Mission Send Off
Excellent, Character. You will be at the forefront of the forces we have honored with this task. The first task is to establish a beachhead within the complex itself. We require you to find and destroy five mainframes which coordinate Redoubt One's defenses. Once you have accomplished this we will be able to send you more of our loyal warriors to assist you in securing the rest of the facility.
Mission Summary
This mission represents the beginning of the culmination of all of Surtr's plans. Thanks to the work of the villain team Surtr is able to assault Redoubt's Headquarters, Redoubt One. Redoubt One is a massive pentagon-shaped artifical island complex which floats in the waters of the Atlanic ocean. Surtr has his troops ready but cannot invade en masse without the mainframes that coordinate the complex's defenses taken out.
The villain team has to go into the base with a small group of Mechanius Imperium and take out all five mainframes and destroy them. Along the way they may also encounter other targets of opportunity while inside the Redoubt One complex. Once the defenses are down Surtr sends in even more of his soldiers, securing the exterior of Redoubt One for the Mechanius Imperium.

Ah Character, I can almost hear the screams of carnage, you have greatly pleased me today Character, but the main course is yet to come.

Mission 5 - Obliterate Redoubt's Leader
Mission Introduction
Ah Character, your service to us has been excellent so far, but it is almost at an end. We only have one more task ahead of you and I will generously reward you with what we have promised. With your position inside Redoubt One secure go further inside of the base and find and eliminate their leader, Gilgamesh.
Mission Send Off
Now go forth and do not return until you have news of Gilgamesh's defeat. This day Gilgamesh and all of his pathetic kind will fell the unquenchable fury that is the price of crossing us, Surtr, First Emperor of the glorious Mechanius Imperium!

Mission Summary
And so Surtr's entire campaign has come to this. Revenge is always personal and Surtr won't just be satisfied until Redoubt's Leader, Lieutenant Colonel Gilgamesh, has been crushed in the midst the Surtr's invasion. While the battle still rages throughout Redoubt One he sends the villain team into the heart of Redoubt One to find and eliminate Gilgamesh. The interior of Redoubt One has been damaged and scared by the battle and activity inside the base is frenetic, but the villains are finally able to locate Gilgamesh, personally leading Redoubt One's defense, and defeat him amidst his soldiers.
Mission Debriefing
Oh your work has pleased us more than you can know, Character. By cutting down Redoubt's beloved leader before his follower's very eyes our taste for revenge has been sated for a brief moment. As was agreed we will give unto you what was promised. Be proud Character, for today you have not only pleased us, but you have also done a great deed for all of machine kind everywhere.

The Eternal Imperium Medal
This medal consists of a pair of two gears of black arranged into an infinity sign affixed to a ribbon of purple edged in black. Looking at this medal you remember the task you did for the Mechanius Imperium's First Emperor, Surtr, and if aiding that despot was the best thing for you in the long run.
Redoubt Operations #2: Wrath of the Imperium
It all began when Mechanius Imperium agents contacted you regarding a task. After promising you something in return you'd been trying to acquire for a long time you agreed. Soon after it you had your first meeting with their leader, First Emperor Surtr, over communications link, the sound of his cheering hordes droning on in the background.
Your first task was to travel to Skyway City in Paragon City and use explosives to demolish the Omnivision Dynamics building there where Johnathon Choi, son of UN Secretary-General Elizabeth Choi, worked. You set the explosives, transforming the structure into a blossoming fireball that sprayed dust and debris throughout the nearby cityscape.
You waited patiently until Elizabeth Choi predictably came to the scene, landing by helicopter with an escort of Longbow. You easily snatched the Secretary-General gaver her over to the Imperium who sent out a white-skinned solider who morphed into a perfect duplicate of the Secretary-General and took the original's place in the chaos.
Then a month passed. The duplicate did its job pushing through a resolution to dissolve Redoubt completely. Surtr contacted you then and sent you to Kbamba Bay where two high-profile Redoubt officers, Fencer Naiad and Headway, were stationed, each one supporting growing factions within redoubt, one primarily loyal to Gilgamesh and the other loyal to the UN. You took out each of them, planting evidence on their inert bodies hinting at betrayal. The ruse worked, and soon Redoubt was divided against itself.
With Redoubt in turmoil and cut off from the UN Surtr made his move. He sent you to lead the attack on Redoubt's headquarters, Redoubt One, a massive complex floating in the Atlantic ocean. You took out Redoubt's defenses and Surtr's cannon fodder invaded the ocean base. Last you invaded the base's heart to find it's leader, Lieutenant Colonel Gilgamesh, found leading the base's defense personally. You charged into the melee, taking out Gilgamesh's troops and not stopping until he lay defeated at your feet. After his defeat Gilgamesh's troops scrambled to carry away their broken leader. Unconcerned about the aftermath of this attack you left to report your success to Surtr greatly pleasing the black-hearted machine.

06/01/09 - Surtr sends out agents to find mercenaries to perform his upcoming plan
06/16/09 - Surtr gives speech in Wrath of the Imperium Trailer, hires villains for Redoubt Operations #2 - Wrath of the Imperium beings.
06/18/09 - Omnivision Dynamics is destroyed and UN Secretary-General Elizabeth Choi is kidnapped and replaced Spectre as a duplicate.
