Robert Deacon

Psych eval summary
Robert, aka "Bob", has a somewhat caustic manner of behaviour to most, due primarily to his belief that powers and numbers do not entitle one to any special treatment. Despite this, most heroes consider him to be good at his job, which is, as Bob puts it, "to get hit a lot and not fall down." As is stated throughout his profile, he is relatively easy to anger, which in most cases simply elicits sarcastic commentary and snarky behaviour, though in some cases has been known to beget violence in the case of what might classically be construed as bullying. This makes him rather easy to predict, if somewhat troublesome to control. He works well in teams, as he seeks to keep teammates "protected", especially younger or less experienced heroes. Despite - or perhaps because of - his dislike of meta-human powers or advanced technology, he has no special training, and as a result, tries to maintain a more humble impression of himself through some self-deprecating humour. It is worth noting that he has admitted that he finds hitting gang members and villains with an axe to be "therapeutic"...
History
Subject has little historical relevance of note. Born in a small family, he grew up with average grades despite slightly higher than average intelligence. Most of his time at home was spent "being lazy". His family's income came primarily from his father's work as a biochemist. When Robert was just aged 14, his father was physically crushed under a shelf, due to a lab accident. "The kind that don't give you super powers". The insurance payment was enough to put Robert into college for his physical therapist degree, and for his mother to purchase a small home near Atlas Park. At age 22, he completed college and pursued a career in physical therapy. At age 27, he was terminated from his position, and was unable to find work. Later, he was arrested. (See Legal information)
Physical Charactaristics
Robert is in near-peak physical health, considering his injuries. He does not posess any powers of healing or regeneration, but due to what he terms "proper care" he heals rather quickly for a normal human. While he doesn't officially train, his daily routine is ideal for shoring up physical shortcomings.
Tactical Considerations
Robert is a team player, and is ideal for defensive positions or for battle line tactics. Accordingly, he has no concept of subtlety, and while he will typically follow orders, he has been borderline insubordinate on many occasions. Overall consideration: useful, but expendable.
Strengths: Robert is a capable fighter; he is knowledgeable in the areas of battle tactics and methods of defense. This makes him difficult to remove from a conflict, short of heavy ordnance or high explosives. His tenacious willpower also proves to keep him going well beyond when his body should have given out. According to medical records recieved from Dr. Haskins, Robert has functioned with a broken ribs and a cracked femur for several days without admitting to it (see legal information for further details).
Weaknesses: Robert possesses no powers, and no specialized training or equipment. His temper is also cause for concern, as he has been known to recklessly attack something much larger and more dangerous simply due to a believed moral slight. This combined with his "just a dumb axeman" mentality makes him difficult to utilize effectively in situations which require a greater-than-normal degree of subtlety or discretion.
Recruitment Potential
Deacon has declined invitations to join Longbow on the occasions it has been offered, citing reasons which vary widely, from legal issues, to distaste for the dress code. Test Scores He scores poorly on Accuracy with small arms and heavy weapons, his examiner even going so far as to say, "That man cannot hit the broad side of a barn." However, he scores relatively well in close-quarter combat, despite having little-to-no actual "technique". Scores for technical aptitude are poor for Deacon, though the test administrator states that the scores were inaccurate, citing a belief that Deacon was "playing dumb". Teamwork score averaged fair, with stark extremes in different categories.
Legal Information
At age 28, Robert was involved in an assault and battery charge. He assaulted a low-ranking member of the Trolls street gang with a lead pipe, supposedly in the defense of a mugging victim. He was offered probation and a clean slate in exchange for court-mandated anger management courses, as well as a mandate to acquire, maintain, and make use of a hero licence.
Since that time, his licence has been temporarily suspended twice: once, due to refusal to abstain from duty in order to recover from injuries sustained in the line of duty, and once again for "violence above and beyond the need", critically wounding three Arachnos operatives: two Fortunatas as well as a low-rank Bane Spider. His stated purpose was an attempt to recover stolen medical supplies, yet he left the supplies behind after crippling the three operatives.
