Biography
Early Life
Little Roxette was born in an outlying community of St. Louis, MO. The first few years were uneventful. Her parents were perfectly average, and she grew up as a normal child of Heartland America, with all the ups and downs expected. There was little indication that the cheerful little girl was a mutant. She just appeared lucky, never suffering more than minor scrapes and bruises from her various childish misadventures.
Around age six, even those minor injuries ceased. Bike crashes, falls from trees, even her brief dabbling in the world of skateboarding never managed to do any real injury to the child. The real revelation came, however, when it came time to update her immunizations for school. The family's doctor spent nearly an hour trying to get the hypodermic needle to penetrate the girl's skin, to no avail. No matter how much pressure he applied the point sank in, but refused to actually break the skin. She was given the immunizations orally, and her parents were somberly advised that Roxette may have a genetic mutation.
In the meantime, the girl was beginning to make her own discoveries. Her step always seemed to have a sort of spring to it. When she ran, her legs seemed to stretch out as she pushed herself faster. She could jump incredibly high if she took a small hop just before. And she always seemed to be able to eke out that last little bit of reach when something seemed to be just outside of her grasp. In her sophomore year of high school, her mutation manifested overtly for the first time. During a game of basketball, she attempted to catch a rebound off a missed goal. Instead of a high leap there was a short hop, both her arms stretching up like rubber bands to snatch the basketball out of the air. She froze on the spot, as did everyone else present. One of the faculty members watching the game had the presence of mind to push through the gaggle of teenagers and take Roxette to the school office. There her parents were called for a conference with the Principal. The school faculty had no objections to teaching a mutant, but the other students were a different story altogether. From that point Roxette had few friends, drawing into herself and doing her best to keep her face hidden from the jeers and taunts coming from every direction.
In her Senior year, though she was doing well in school she was still miserable. The taunting of the fellow students had waned a bit, but she was still something of a pariah. It seemed to change when a few male students approached her at different times, apparently interested in dating. She was immediately suspicious, but agreed to go out with a few of them anyway. None of the prospective relationships lasted more than a couple of days. One even ended after a couple of *minutes*. As it turned out, she was the object of a 'Competition', to see who could 'Score with the stretchy girl'. Prior to graduation those same students passed around rumors of their supposed wild sexual escapades with the 'Human blow-up Doll'. Everybody *knew* the stories were completely false, but it still concerned the school staff enough to call another conference.
Her parents grounded her for the remainder of the school year, until she finally graduated.
Moving out
After high school Roxette left home to attend college. In her spare time she'd been experimenting with her abilities. She could now control her stretching to an extent. Her college major was picked to further that particular purpose. Majoring in Kinesiology would better help her understand how the human body- and by extension her own- moved. It was at this time that she began paying attention to the newspapers and keeping track of the things happening in Paragon City, RI, the City of Heroes.
Heroic Leanings
A bit prematurely, she began constructing her superhero uniform. Little more than a swimsuit, pantyhose, and some neoprene boots and gloves, it would have to do. During her second year of college she made her first 'Patrol'. Leaving the dormitory, she changed clothes in a park restroom, stuffing her street clothes under some bushes in a duffel bag. The mask was the final touch. It was really just a wool Ski Mask, but it functioned well enough. Her first 'night out' was uneventful, and so were many more after. But she still got a rush.
It was the mask. Cheap and poorly made though it was, she was no longer shy, miserable Roxette. She.. she was someone else. Who? Well. She would have to think of an appropriate name. It came to her oddly enough, in a throes of a nightmare about the very first time she used her powers.
Rebound.
Building her Skills
Roxette continued toward graduation. Her 'Patrol' nights were soon swapped for Dance classes, Yoga, and various other related skills. She also gained her CPR Certification and took several First Aid classes. She was steadily surprising herself as she gained skill with her abilities. Her confidence and self-esteem were climbing out of the dark pit they'd been in for so many years. But there was still a dilemma- She'd kept control of her stretching through College, and hadn't been outed as a mutant. What would happen if she followed through with her plan and became a heroine? Surely someone would be able to track back and locate her friends and family. No, she couldn't let her abilities become known. When out in public, she tended to cover her head and face. She spoke with the same quiet, unsteady voice she'd used since high school. Her fellow students and the instructors just took her to be extremely shy, of course.
The City of Heroes
Finally graduation came. Diploma in hand, she boarded the first available bus to Paragon City, Rhode Island. Upon arrival, she took what money she's saved up from various odd jobs, and had a simple set of tights made, this time with a proper mask.

Powers and Abilities
Pros
Roxette's bones and body tissues are extremely, almost absurdly elastic. At full extension she has a reach of nearly twenty-five feet, though her muscle control suffers with longer distances. Her movement is dependent on fine muscle control. Due to an aspect of her mutation as well as years of practice, Roxette can exert voluntary control of every individual muscle in her body. Her flexibility is unlimited. She's capable of literally tying herself in knots if the mood strikes her.
Her elastic tissues have an extremely high tensile strength- provided she can hold on, she can 'pull' a midsized sedan off the ground by tensing her stretched muscles. She puts this to a variety of uses, from hurling small objects at high speeds to restraining tough opponents.
Her skin is completely impenetrable by physical means. With a texture similar to stretched latex, it can withstand puncturing, slashing, impacts, as well as high temperatures and most chemicals. Bullets bounce weakly off her, their energy sucked away by her springy body. Blades and bats may actually rebound off her and strike the wielder, causing hilarious self-inflicted injuries. On a special note, she doesn't even *notice* electrical attacks. She's completely immune to electricity.
She frequently uses herself as a human pinball, throwing herself down narrow hallways or alleys, crashing through foes in a tightly-tucked bouncing ball of mayhem. By relaxing and tensing at the right time, she can accelerate thrown objects to speeds approaching three hundred miles per hour.
Cons
Roxette's body tissues are flexible and rubbery- extremely heavy objects will squash her like a piece of bubblegum. This isn't a problem physically, but she still needs to breathe, and anything she's eaten could become a potential problem as well. Stretching her body puts stress on her heart and lungs, and she has been known to black out during extreme maneuvers.
Her impenetrable skin poses another challenge. She is completely unable to receive any medication or other aid that requires an injection through the skin. If the required medicine cannot be taken orally, then she cannot be treated. Thought she has quite a strong immune system, she's still susceptible to poisoning.
