Spacejam
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
…there’s not a planet too far away. Another world, full of life so vastly different (and oddly alike) from Planet Earth, that it’s hard to believe they’re ‘sister planets’. Smaller by comparison, the planet known as Illuna is hidden snuggly behind Earth.
Her chameleonic front keeps her hidden from the humans' (and other life forms') invasive eyes. Illuna blends in seamlessly with the rest of the galactic universe, appearing as nothing more than just an expanse of a space lit by stars. Thus, from the beginning, Illuna and the life it supports has remained undiscovered for light years.
It’s people, come in a rainbow of colors; they are ranked and categorized by their skin tone and the luminescence in which it has. The stereotypical martian green is considered of the truest blood, while purple, yellow, and blue are also considered royalty. As the hue of skin tone begins to fade, so does their ranking within the world as their blood thought to be less pure and tainted from it’s origins.
The Illunians are intelligent and inquisitive with a taste for the prettier things of life. Eccentricity is not welcomed, preferred by most to stay within the ideals of their ‘norm’. Their eyes are often white and the more they ‘glow’, the more rare they are thought to be. Hair of lighter colors are also highly prized and coveted. Like humans, men and women of Illuna go through great lengths to obtain flawless appearances.
Other life forms are often kept as slaves, and females are regarded as little more than arm trophies kept like Earth’s prized horses. The act of betrothing is barbaric; the father holds an event in which men come to fight for the daughter’s hand, regardless if it is wanted or not by her. The winner takes the bride and the cycle begins anew. Families usually consist of the parental units; the mother and the father, a son and a daughter.
The male to female ratio is important to their obsessively controlling, perfect nature. The son takes lead once his father passes, his word law even over his own mother. The daughter is married off once reaching sexual maturity, which is marked by the sheen upon her skin which acts as an ‘attractant’.
It’s just too bad that there’s always the ‘bad seed’, the black sheep, or the one who rebels. It’s even worse that she just had to be the Emperor’s daughter.
Noni’nari Inouim was the pretty daughter of Illuna’s ruler, Emperor Inouim. Bearing the regal pale green of her royal blood and pale yellow hair, she was much coveted by servants and fellow royalty alike. Her smile was polite and pleasant, the glow of her light blue eyes playful. She proved to be a handful since her birth, able to get away with most anything with a bat of her lashes.
Once, before Nona’nari had reached marriageable age, she had been caught ’allowing’ a boy who was not her Chosen to kiss her. She denied the act but the evidence was quite clear. The Illunian race leaves behind a temporary marking when physical contact with others, or items are made. It resembles their hand or finger prints with a bit of a sheen; not unlike that of when one presses down upon a LCD screen of some sorts.
The boy’s family was relocated (though the whereabouts remain unknown) by her father’s order and Noni’nari never heard from him again. She knew her father was a megalomaniac who had recently become obsessed with the idea of taking over Planet Earth in efforts to extend his power.
Noni’nari excelled in the musical arts and performed frequently with her academy’s choir. Her talent for music was never regarded as more than a hobby however as she was expected to one day be a man’s wife. In secrecy, Lola’nari formed a band in which she often went disguised to. The band known as ‘The Glow’ sky rocketed to fame with Lola’nari as their lead singer.
Once intergalactic stardom reached the young talent it became impossible to hide her secret. The Emperor Illuna who had begun to grow evermore power-hungry was outraged to learn of his daughter’s rebellious ways. Her behavior was unheard of and outright appalling to the royal family.
This had only been one of many of Noni’nari’s discrepancies against her father and this time proved to be the final straw. Emperor Illuna rushed forward with his daughter’s betrothing event, calling loud and far for the finest to come fight for her hand in marriage.
It’s just too bad the emperor’s daughter didn’t like her new husband. It’s even worse that she ran away, further disgracing her father. It might be the worst thing yet, that she stole away to planet Earth and her continued success as an intergalactic rockstar taunted him.
Earth time.
Noni’nari is carefree, happy and generally nice if a bit vain. Her confidence is often misinterpreted as conceit but Noni’nari is genuinely proud of the advances she’s made in her own life. Noni’nari is naïve, but her naivete is not be mistaken for stupidity. An alien and outsider, she is new and still learning of Earth’s customs. This leads to awkward moments when she misuses a word or is caught eating both cotton candy and cotton balls. Due to the color of her hair, some of those who have met her have called these ‘blonde moments’.
Spacejam is very socialable and her friendly (and if somewhat flirty) personality is likely due to her solar-system wide stardom. She's ravenously curious about physical contact and this leads to her frequently touching others despite personal boundaries. While naïve, Noni is quick-witted and has been known to say things for their gasp factor, whether true or not. True to her race, she is distracted by pretty things; her one weakness being diamonds.
Noni’s recent self proclaimed emancipation from her father can lead to rebellious moments; doing all the things that would have been frowned upon before. Many who know of her father, only see her as the Emperor’s daughter and at times, she can find it hard to form friendships as others steer clear of her to avoid the reach of the Emperor.
+ Spacepunk:
+ Moonshoes:
+ Rocketship: Montana Moon; Noni and Montana met during a crossing of venues on her galaxy tour 'Nonipalooza'. Throughout the remainder of the tour, the two stars shared a brief fling. It ended soon after it began and it's likely that Lola was the one to initiate it. There might be a bit of rivalry (at least on her part) when it comes to their careers, but there's no ill feelings.
+ Grim Bandit: An Erian slave who Noni learned that once belonged to her father. The Erian escaped Illuna after Noni's father, The Emperor, murdered his wife when she vehemently refused to become his mistress. Noni enjoys the Erian's company and it is obvious she has an affection for him. Noni is aware her father would end the Erian's life if the Emperor were aware of their friendship.
+ Frostbound: Her 'Nikki'; Noni hardly knows the human beyond a few conversations in the Pocket D and only happened to cross paths with her due to Grim Bandit but she is pleasant and kind, expressing little impatience when dealing with Spacejam. This alone warrants Noni's possessive nature to call her friend.
+ Zen: He is the Varn; a race not stranger to the Illunians. The two planets have had the most contact to date with the elusive Varn and were held in higher regards than the Erians or other slave/servant races. Zen is as curious as Noni and has expressed his desire to hear the band 'The Glow perform.
+ Emperor Inouim: Noni's father; a megalomaniac with a taste for blood and war. His subjects are expected to follow the laws set in place. His daughter is one of few who have rebelled his tyrannical reign after he forced her hand in marriage. Noni is sure, for every moment she continues to rebel and fight his word, it is another moment of her life shortened.
+ Noni'nari is a flirt.
+ She often ridicules people for asking stupid questions about aliens.
+ Spacejam formed a band with Spacepunk, and Moonshoes! They're called 'The Glow'.
+ They perform every where! Feel free to recognize her.
+ Noni enjoys dressing up in 'costumes'.
+ Noni gets lost in music fairly easy, you can sometimes catch her swaying to music.
+ She often satisfies her curiosity of physical contact simply by touching a person.
+ Noni has a poster of Thane from Mass Effect 2 on her wall but has no clue he's not 'real'.
+ The hyphenated 'Nari' of her name is a tag associated with her class and ranking.
+ She has an accent, though it's unplaceable. Example.
+ There is a hot pink hairdryer attached to her waist; she seems to think it's a lethal sidearm.
+ Her story includes a lot of puns and references to 'alien' type movies, games, etc.
+ You can catch Spacejam and Moonshoes performing 'Aliens on Ice' in Pocket D!
