When Mother Gaia created the Earth and bound herself eternally to its being, she also created a protector: a creature crafted from the four primal essences of her being. Shaping the mighty Earth, the roaring Fire, the swift Wind, and the relentless Water into one powerful form, she breathed life into her guardian. This being was called Primus, and he was the First Elemental.

Existing since the creation of the Earth, Primus exists to defend it and its children from all threats. For centuries at a time, he lay dormant, slumbering until he was needed, and awakening only in times of great turmoil. When Marcus Cole and Stephen Richter disturbed the Well of Furies and obtained the Incarnate powers of Zeus and Tartarus, deep in the center of the Earth, Primus awoke, and took up the Incarnate powers of Gaia once more.

Rallying other Elementals and Champions of the elements to his cause, he formed the Elemental Array to help him defend the planet.

Notes

Primus is capable of flight and combat outside of earth's atmosphere, and is responsible for preventing numerous interstellar catastrophes which would have otherwise affected the Earth. Thanks to his intervention, most of Earth's inhabitants never even knew of these threats.

Primus is immortal, ageless, and has no need for sustenance of any kind to maintain his existence.

If he is destroyed, Primus will reform at the center of the Earth over the course of the next twenty-four hours.
