Personality
Tidal Current has always been a fun loving type of person, as far as he knows. His life as a hero began pretty much with the Justiciars. He was trained in by the Old Ranger, and he never really had any trouble capturing a foe without killing them, as he only used hand to hand combat. He always had a few qualms with killing someone on the spot.
Tidal Current usually won't ask his informants or agents he's working for why he's bringing someone to justice, he just does outright, on the spot. He's never really had a knack for deep thinking. It's enough that they're evil, and he tries to be good.
As a hand to hand fighter Tidal Current dislikes magic, as he is generally forced out of his comfort zone. It is rather difficult to punch a ghost, but he will usually still go out of his way to attack members from the Circle of Thorns, as he has heard what they do to their captives.
Tidal isn't well traveled or well versed, therefore he has not formed an opinion on aliens or species other than human. He neither loves them nor hates them. He just figures they're people like us, and are subject to the same moral code.
Tidal has been known to have a quick temper from time to time, if he gets into a heated debate.
Powers
Tidal Current has many powers, first and foremost, he has a super-strong lower body, he can lift over two tons with his legs alone. He also has the ability to fly, and has the ability to become temporarily invulnerable. He's also a skilled martial artist.
Martial Arts
Tidal Current is trained, and is a black belt in Washu, Tae-Kwon Do, Karate, Jujitsu, and Tai Chi. He also studies Indonesian kickboxing and Kung Fu.
Invulnerability
Tidal Current is not invulnerable, but he is formidable; his tough, slightly mutated skin can shrug off anything from bullets to plasma rounds, but it isn't totally invulnerable. He does, however, have the ability to become or "turn" invulnerable for a short amount of time.
Additional Powers
The mutant nature of Tidal Current has granted him additional abilites beyond his invulnerability.
Flight
Tidal Current's mutation included the ability to defy gravity. Given a clear space, he can acheive velocities near Mach One. By necessity, he keeps a slower pace when flying among the buildings of Paragon City.
Other Powers
Tidal Current also has the ability to quickly regenerate after combat. Allowing him to re-enter the fray quickly after a battle. He also has incredible balance, making it hard to knock him off his feet.
Abilities
Tidal Current has the ability to see slightly into his own future. He has no control over this ability. It comes when it wants, and he may see just a few moments, or as much as a few months into the future.
Weaknesses and Limitations
Tidal Current is an amnesiac, unable to remember his past. This has not affected physical skills or his command of language. Presumably, any enemies he may have made in the past before his arrival in Paragon City can use this against him.
Due to Tidal Currents extensive training and afformentioned super-powers, and relatively young age, he has a tendency to become over-confident, and get himself into situations that he cannot handle.
Equipment
Tidal owns very little in the way of personal equipment. The exception is a large supply of capsules containing a mutagenic compound that he acquired shortly after arriving in Paragon City. The mutagen is mildly toxic, which has a debilitating effect on individuals exposed to it. The capsules shatter on impact after being thrown.
Character History
Before Paragon
Tidal Current has lost all memory of his life before washing on shore in Paragon City, and assuming the name of James Chun. However some clues have been pieced together.
It is generally assumed that he got the last name correct, it is believed that his real name is Adam Chun, a small time gangster from Tokyo. Adam was always a lackey for hire for some of the bigger names there. Adam Chun generally matches the physical description of Tidal Current.
Adam was last seen on a mission against the Yakuza, a Japanese crime syndicate, it was thought that he got in over his head and was killed, this would also explain him washing up on shore with no memory of his past.
It is known that he was born in Scotland, Tidal Current remembered that after the wash up. He also believes he has at least one living relative, in Australia.
This information was recovered by a police super-bot, VX-767, who couldn't decide whether or not to tell the Current. He was a hero now, and surely had a better life than he did before. The decision, however, was not VX's to make, he was destroyed shortly after in a Troll Raid on the Hollows forward police outpost.
In Paragon City
Tidal Current entered Paragon City by washing up on shore in the Founder's Falls district; he quickly joined the Justiciars and attempted to gather clues about his past. He met The Old Ranger, Midnite Paladin, Gods Speed, and Solairis. They agreed to help him.
So far he has pieced together that he was born in Scotland, and that he has a severe distaste for organized gangs (being that he was formerly a mercenary for hire, this comes as quite a surprise). He has already made quite a name for himself in Paragon City, arresting members of the Hellions gangs, helping contacts in the Hollows, foiling 6 bank robberies, and disrupting the plans of the Lost, the Circle of Thorns, the Council, and even Arachnos.
His ability to see into the future has granted him a vision of a black and red clad villain that looks surprisingly like himself. He hopes this is a 'path not taken' and not a view of 'what is to come'.
The Justiciars
Tidal Current was found on shore, in the Founder's Falls area, by the Old Ranger. He was soon after recruited, and quickly shot up in security ranking. He is still currently an Honorary Justiciar, but hopes that he will soon be promoted.
Trivia
Tidal Current's name is loosely based on a nickname for the character Tidal Oneka in Star Wars Galaxies, the name was Tidal Wave.
Tidal Current picked his assumed name in the Justiciars' bar, Tavern on the Edge, after being prompted by Shadespawn to do so.
Before losing his memory Adam Chun was thinking of moving to Paragon City and joining the Council Crime Syndicate, he heard they paid better than any of the Japanese gangs.
