This has been marked as mature largely for adult themes, language and sexual references. With that said this is hardly a 'lolcyborz' character so rest assured that there will be no idiocy involving biologically improbable and definitely uncomfortably oversized organs. This is a three parter with separate pages. There's this one (the main page) with basic information, an interview with a member of Bahram's order and an interactive opinions page. The latter is what I am most fond of but I'll leave the details of that on the right page. Enjoy.

Bahram Reinhardt/Interview with a Nethermancer

Bahram Reinhardt/Paragon Speaks!

Contents

Description

Bahram is a tall Caucasian male with short blonde hair and a strong physical build indicative of his harsh daily regimen. He is commonly seen in his green and gold robes and shoulder cape with grey pants. On his forearms and lower legs he has sturdy cloth bound tightly to limit blood loss from wounds. Many times he will be without his robes (After lending them to a lady, for example) and will then be showing his sleeveless body glove, specially designed to prevent disembowelment in the case of severe abdomen lacerations.

His ob/gyn suit involves black leather shoes and sensible slacks as one would suggest from a specialist. Beyond that his attire is far from conventional. His medical coat is sleeveless and kept open, revealing his barely-fitting grey singlet. His forearms are still wrapped in cloth, though sterilized in this case. He keeps a pair of green-lensed goggles perched on his forehead though what purpose they serve, if indeed any, is yet to be seen.

His 'spectral form' resembles a twisted representation of a First World War soldier, nationality unknown. Garbed in a tattered great coat and worn gear underneath, his face is obscured by a gas mask. Apart from his auras and his glowing eyes which shine through the goggles of the mask, the only colour to his monochrome form is his stained red taloned hands.

Both his robe and his 'spectral form' have parts of human skulls (or something similar) attached to the upper arms. What they signify is unknown at this time.

Bahram Reinhardt wonders if seamen jokes were old even in this time period.

Powers

Nethermancy

Traditionally nethermancy is not named by it's effects but by it's function. A nethermancer is attuned to the Aether, the space between realms of reality, and can channel this etheric energy through their physical shells to affect either themselves or the world around them. Bahram used to be adept at manipulating ice and air. In the December of 2007 however Bahram's focus shifted dramatically. No longer able to command the elements he instead used the etheric powers flowing through him far more directly. While nethermancers able to do this are known (though uncommon) this is the first recorded instance of a focus shift in a Jaaen Ta-Issa nethermancer to date.

In the field this ability of Bahram's manifests mainly on himself, increasing the potency of his attacks and endowing his form with semi-tangible properties, making him harder to kill. While his punches are potent, they are far from the most damaging force among Paragon's Heroes.

That is of little concern as he has his own advantages, one of which are his auras. Directing the etheric forces emanating from him as a by-product of his channelling, he can damage his foes through etheric trauma, disorient them by confusing their senses and then he can show glimpses of the Aether to his foes. A feat which paralyses the target with terror.

This can either be achieved through direct focusing on a single mind or as a passive effect achieved via his passive energies seeping into the consciousness of any opponents around him. To sentient beings the Aether is a horrifying place, not due to fire and brimstone or other such imagery. The Aether is without form or substance. A Jaaen Ta-Issa acolyte requires years of conditioning just so their senses can make heads or tails out of this in-between realm. Even seasoned nethermancers who can measure their lifespan with centuries are effected by having their focus forced into the Aether in but an instant. Worldly entities such as humans are left disoriented, confused, out of control and most likely absolutely petrified. Even those incapable of fear are left near-helpless by the overload of alien stimuli.

"That is correct, miss. I am an outsider. I must say though that if this city is as captivating as your smile then I may just have to move in."

Most demons and other entities have never experienced the Aether themselves, what with being interplanar rather than interrealm. As such they commonly suffer just as badly as terrestrial minds. Machines on the other hand are effected by sensory disinformation and generally lock up as their A.I. strives to compute the situation.

When this attack fails it would not be a case of the target being unaffected, but instead that they resisted the attack and kept their senses free from Bahram's tampering.

Also of note are the tendrils he can summon to ensnare and assault a target. These are actually a trace of his essence made manifest. To the touch they share his body heat and the texture of his skin; their deadliness comes from when they thrash and constrict around their victim.

To counter the excessive physical drain caused by such heavy channelling of etheric energies, Bahram can leech some of the innate etheric flow from others and into himself, this he can also utilize to temporarily augment his attacks further, his offensive strength rising as more etheric force is focused through his arms.

All Jaaen Ta-Issa neonates are taught about the natural auras which centre around every living being. This aura (known to the Jaaen Ta-Issa as 'boran so,' or the 'eternal self') is predominantly in an unfocused, adaptive and receptive state. Not only are all neonates instructed on how to correct a damaged boran-so they are also trained in how to temporarily direct it's flow to aid in healing. While useless as a field practice this talent still allows Bahram to repair another's minor and internal damage relatively rapidly, a week's worth of natural healing passing in an hour. Given enough time and a cooperative patient he can even use this to correct chemical imbalances, an invaluable skill when treating expectant mothers with troubled pregnancies.

"I may have a halo, but only your angelic smile could make me walk on water."

Fitness

Nethermancy is a very physically taxing art. Not only are the practitioners required to use physical movements not unlike that of a shaolin monk to focus on the desired outcome of their 'casting,' the actual act of channelling such high levels of interrealm forces through their physical shells leaves most nethermancers exhausted with excessive usage. To this effect a nethermancer generally is needed to be either robust or fit.

Bahram fits into the latter category. His morning regimes are as rigorous as his hero work and it shows. Agile, strong and durable, the fact that his physique attracts womenfolk is not lost on him either.

Leaping

Bahram has an acrobatic flair about him, using swift motions to manoeuvre himself out of harm's way and into more viable positions. From this it was easy for him to learn how to focus etheric strength through his legs to allow him to propel himself high into the air, effortlessly allowing him to traverse the city with speed.

The 'Gjenganger' Form

An image of what is believed to be Bahram Reinhardt

What exactly this form is, what created it and where it is leading is a mystery to most everyone, Bahram included. As is why a living entity can manifest as an undead gjenganger. What is known that it does not manifest itself based on emotions such as anger as there have been plenty of situations where he's displayed different emotions without any forced change. Some claim they've seen him manifest this form willingly, while others claim he's been unaware of a shift which has come randomly. MAGI believes the gjenganger could be brought about by external influences such as from the Cabal or the Circle.

The form does not grant him any additional strength though it does bring with it interesting quirks, both positive and negative. For one he can sense any life form living or dead and track them down like a blood hound (Naturally this is useless with robots or anything that has no essence) while alternatively he has admitted to having a desire to 'consume' interplanar beings such as the Behemoths (though fortunately he has resisted the temptation thus far). Beyond that there is little more known about the nature of Bahram's alternate self, at least publicly anyway.

The Queens of Kings Row

Bahram's Ob/Gyn clinic which he has named The Queens of Kings Row opened on the twenty-second of September, 2008 not a block away from the Kings Row tram station. At this time it is only a small business with just himself, a receptionist (the Heroine Swiftwing) and a janitor (the civilian Vic Swanson) though in time he is hoping to expand further with more like-minded heroes with medical training offering a wide range of services to those in need. He treats women from all walks of life with the impoverished and low-income earners getting special discounted rates (There are rumours he's even 'forgotten' that he has not been paid yet with truly destitute patients). The location was specially chosen so that the denizens of Kings Row will not have to travel far while others from different zones of Paragon will not need to traverse ganglands to reach his practice.

Strengths

The kicking of butts now concluded, Bahram decides to add some humiliation to his vanquished foes by taking their names, as promised.

Along with inflicting damage, Bahram's auras sow chaos and confusion among his opponents and he makes for a more immediate threat to be focused on than many other scrappers. This latter point being most useful when he is working with more fragile heroes.

He also has a strong, honourable personality; quick with a laugh, unrelenting in the face of adversity and certainly not afraid to pour on the charm.

Weaknesses

Though effective in large mobs of opponents, Bahram's single-opponent damage and his own durability are far from fantastic. What is even more crippling is how draining his nethermantic arts are. Though he counters this with his drains it is far from uncommon for his endurance giving out before he is able to 'feed' a second time.

His personality can rub many the wrong way. He has been described by many as a 'smartarse,' a 'letch,' an 'annoying prick' among many other names.

Then of course there's the issue of his psychological damage which, admittedly, he hides well.

Electronics are the bane of his existence. He has been known to cause catastrophic mishaps with even the more basic of appliances. This is not true with medical apparatus which would indicate this flaw is a psychological one.
