Born in an alternate dimension in which human beings are far more beautiful than those found in ours, Leta Johnson pitied the first heroes who entered her dimension through Portal Corps gates. She decided to help the poor, ugly creatures, returning with them to our dimension.

Character History
When Portal Corps researchers first made contact with the Zeta-69 dimension's version of Earth, they were amazed to discover that in that alternate dimension, all humans were far more beautiful than any human in our dimension could even conceive. Most of the researchers who made initial contact died immediately upon viewing the Zetans due to pulmonary shock. Within months, everyone else in the initial contact team had either committed suicide -- due to realizing how ugly and worthless they were -- or had died of severe genital burns.
Although the Zetans were a peaceful people, the governments of both sides agreed that the portal should be sealed permanently. However, in contrition over the contact team's deaths, the Zetans first sent a solitary representative to our world. The Zetans hoped that their representative could teach our world how not to be so damn ugly.
Their representative, Leta Johnson, was considered their world's most beautiful woman. She had worked in their most honored and revered profession -- modeling. But her career was almost over. A model for seven years, Leta had recently turned 25. Normally Zetans would sacrifice everything to save a model, but Leta's advanced age made her, in the Zetan culture, too old to be considered attractive and thus expendable.
Our government agreed to the transfer on the condition that Leta wear a mask at all times. If Leta were to ever remove her mask in public, mass deaths would ensue. Survivors would face months of agony and depression before succumbing as well. One could only hope to die immediately in such an event rather than face the alternative slow, tortuous death.
Upon Leta's arrival, her pity overwhelmed her. Leta vowed to help these poor, ugly creatures in any way she could. Shortly, she discovered that even while wearing a mask, her beauty allowed her to control men. She donned a costume and registered as the superhero Cardiac Arrest.
Since Cardiac is most effective inspiring teammates, she has spent the vast majority of her career helping teammates defeat villainous forces that they would have no hope of surviving against without her. She rarely ventures alone, although on the few occasions that she has, she's proven to be a capable soloer who can more than handle her own.
Approximately a year after joining The People's Vanguard, Cardiac met Heat Index. Although he'd spent the previous year womanizing with virtually every major female hero and a few major female villains, Heat Index was overwhelmed by Cardiac's beauty and proposed. In her short time in Paragon, Cardiac had received literally millions of proposals, but she was attracted to his power and intellect and agreed to marry him.
They eventually gave birth to Isabelle Fisher, who was famously kidnapped only a month after birth by agents reportedly working for Lord Recluse. Oddly, only months later, the new super villain known as Fireheart claimed that she was Isabelle Fisher. Freedom Corps believes that Lord Recluse used Rikti technology to age Isabelle 18 years and program her with his own desires.
Regardless, to this day, Cardiac continues fighting evil, helping her teammates protect the world from threats that few other teams could handle.
Sources in The People's Vanguard report that Cardiac has recently been recruited by Heat Index's new sub-group comprising the group's best and brightest, possibly for special operations missions that even the elite of the elite of the elite superheroes would not dare to undertake. The People's Vanguard will not officially comment on the matter.
Powers
Cardiac's natural beauty is so overwhelming to both teammates and foes that it is considered the strongest natural power known to man. In her presence, her allies always fight harder, stronger, and faster, tirelessly confronting the forces of evil with limitless endurance and strength. Foes who face her wilt and collapse, often exhibiting literally the same profound reactions as someone being electrocuted.
Vulnerabilities
Cardiac has the strength and defenses of an average human woman. Foes who can blind themselves to her shockingly amazing beauty can defeat her easily -- provided she isn't surrounded by teammates who, in all cases, will literally kill anyone who threatens her.
