Origin
Conductive Conception
Asha Tahiliani was born December 7th, 1985 in New Delhi, India. From the moment of her conception, Jaya and Narmad Tahiliani knew that she was different. Though furless at the time of her birth, Asha's large, flared ears and small prehensile tail clearly set her apart from any normal human baby. Her parents, astonished at the appearance of their first child, decided to keep Asha hidden from the public in fear of ridicule and criticism. Taken to the family's run-down and poor home, Asha quickly began to develop more strange features. After about two weeks, her once sharp blue eyes began to focus into a deep amber, and a short coat of pale orange hair or fur began forming across her entire body. It wasn't long until this fur became a fine coat of vibrant orange with black stripes, while her eyes shone a near glowing amber yellow, constantly gazing outdoors from the confines of the small home. Yet what disturbed her parent's most of all was that whenever they sought to touch their child they were met with a rather sharp, seemingly static shock. Over time and for unknown reasons, this harmless shock became a powerful, rather painful electric jolt, and by the age of five Asha's parent's were forced to cease handling their child to avoid injury.
Shocking Start
In 1994 on Asha's eighth year, Jaya and Narmad Tahiliani were approaching financial bankruptcy. Unable to find a job in New Delhi's crowded streets, Narmad fell in with the wrong crowd and soon learned from a shady character that his family may be able to start a new life in America. On the verge of living homeless, Narmad decided it was best for his family to spend the remainder of their income to be smuggled into the States. Unbeknownst to him was that he had not booked passage to America, but was conned into buying a trip to the Etoile or Rogue Isles. Asha was carefully garbed in thick, concealing clothing and was taken to the nearest port, where she and her parents along with others seeking supposedly new lives boarded a shipping vessel and were taken on a harsh journey towards their fake freedom. Upon arriving on the shores of Mercy Island, Asha's parents did what they could to find jobs but were forced to wander the streets with their electric child in tow, beaten back by the harsh, criminal-filled environment. Narmad quickly learned of his mistake and feared the worst for their lives while Asha wandered aimlessly with them without fear, for she was only happy to be outside.
Lone Lightning
Merely weeks after landing on the shores of Mercy Island, all hope for Asha's family seemed to be lost. Out of money and living on the streets, avoiding criminals and corrupted police, Asha had become much of a burden to the struggling couple. To survive on the streets was one thing, but to keep a mutant child hidden at the same time was another. Reluctantly and without Asha's knowledge, Jaya and Narmad's desire to survive their plight overwhelmed their reasoning, and they decided to abandon the child that had caused them nothing but trouble. The following day they took Asha to a lonely street and asked her to wait there for them. Asha watched as her parents disappeared around a corner and ended up waiting three days on that same street, never to see her parents again. Stricken by the realization that her parents were not coming back, the young Asha began to wander the alleyways and back streets of Mercy Island, her innate survival instincts helping her forage for food and avoid unnecessary dangers. Run-ins with local Arachnos and R.I.P. forces were inevitable, as well as bouts with gang members and other criminals, yet thanks to her mutant powers Asha was able to survive and grow into a formidable young woman with keen instincts and a sharp mind. She quickly picked up the English language and made temporary shelters within the sewers, learning as she went what her strengths and limitations were.

Electricity Generation and Manipulation
Asha's body has never been scientifically examined, but it is assumed that her body somehow produces high amounts of electrical charge which is then transmitted through her fur. Each strand of fur stemming from Asha's body acts as a sort of resonant transformer, or Tesla coil, capable emitting electricity into multiple effects, with her entire coat of fur acting as a complex circuit that ties to ground. Technologically this shouldn't be possible, but the "circuit" within each strand of fur seems to be able to alter or change themselves depending on the function that Asha wishes to perform with her powers. At some points her fur appears to become an intricate weave of oscillating resonant circuits which transfer energy from one to the other, while during other times the fur can become primary winding using either a half-bridge or full-bridge arrangement of bipolar transistors. The only difference her fur has to conventional circuits (besides the facts that they repeatedly change) is that they are never closed off.
Asha's powers seem to be constantly activated, flowing electricity through her body and to ground at all times. Therefore Asha's only control over her power is the ability to manipulate how the electricity forms through her fur, though she can never cut off the flow completely without risking self-inflicted harm. If Asha is ever cutoff from ground or forcefully stops her powers, (which she set yet to figure out how to do) then her body becomes something of a capacitor, slowly building up charge until it can release back into ground. She has mentioned that whenever she wore shoes (and thus cutoff from ground) she gradually becomes more and more uncomfortable and eventually feels pain until she touches the ground again with her bare feet.
Some forms of electricity manipulation Asha can perform include:
- Creating a high voltage charge around her fists
- Arcing electricity between her arms (sometimes ears)
- Maintaining a static field around her head to disrupt psionics
- Configuring her entire body into a directed lightning bolt
- Configuring her entire body to become raw electricity for a short period of time (very stressful on her body)
- Many others
Friends
- Simply put, Lucy is Asha's best friend. Sometimes they're so alike it's scary, though Asha may seem a little more mellow than her energetic friend. They have numerous inside jokes and tell each other any and all of their secrets, whispering during conversations or sending each other text messages. If you mention something "emo" while there two are nearby, don't be offended if you hear snickering. Even if you are offended, it wouldn't be wise to go against their humor. A true example of "BFF", Asha would do pretty much anything for this girl, even going as far as to risk death by taking over a secret underground evil corporation with just the two of them. In fact, they actually did that already.
- Despite not knowing too much about the personal life of good ol' Jinks, Asha still considers him a good guy and a good friend. She can tell he has a good heart and is one of the few "heroes" she actually has respect for. Always willing to let him hear one of her corny jokes and never far from making fun of his love life, Asha is usually in a good mood when the clown is around.
- Sharlisse seems to be a regular in the Pocket D life, and through their many meetings Asha has developed a positive attitude towards her. Memorizing her favorite drink of "Diet Coke", they often make idle chitchat when they bump into each other and exchange tidbits of info or simply just joke around. Regardless of what they're doing, "Lisse" as Asha calls her, is alright in her books and another of the few heroes she'd trust.
- Toy is certainly one crazy robot. In fact, Asha believes the only thing robotic about him is his body. As far as personality and speaking habits go, Toy is probably more human than some humans themselves (Especially male humans). Regardless, Asha's glad that her powers don't seem to disrupt this dispenser of metallic destruction, and whenever he's around she can be sure there will be a few good laughs to be had, as well as a few openings for jokes about him hitting on Enerix.
- A big tough guy with an even bigger and softer heart, Asha thinks Mercy is just a big ol' teddy bear. She'd hug him if it didn't hurt him, but regardless she sees Mercy as an all around good guy with a sense of honor a a great arm for throwing punks off balconies. She was sad to hear he quit his job as a Pocket D bouncer, but either way it usually puts a smile on her face to see the big guy lumbering towards her in one of his many, many outfits.
