Rogue Rubble is @BurntHeart's (player) response to a character attribute of his main character, Spirit of Stone's, obcession with the idea that the Devouring Earth and the "Rock Mens" in particular could be reformed. In the beginning he was part of a losely formed team (read not a supergroup, just a team) that included two other rubbles, an awesome attempt to create a geode shard, as well as a spectacular attempt to create a fungiod using the in-game costume options available. Sadly the players who created these additional "Rebellious Earth" characters deleted them to make way for other characters, but Rogue Rubble remains.

Personality
Rubble's personality has evolved over time. He began is skiddish around humans, but this has developed into a friendly and curious nature as he has become more and more accustomed to being around humans. He is extremely playful and loves practical jokes, while not very good at them himself, he adores well executed ones by others. He is known to giggle often; however, due to his rocky nature the sound is a bit frightening to those not used to his noises.
Powers
Rubble is animated earth created by Hamidon. He has the ability to increase his own mass, absorbing more rock to his body and is able to regenerate by drawing from the Essance of Earth.
Stone Melee
Rubble is able to increase the size of his small arms by adding rock to them and increasing the power of his normal punches. He also has the ability to form an earthen mallet which he swings for both overhead smashing attacks and upper cut attacks that have been known to knock foes down or across the room.
Stone Armor
Rubble can increase his own body mass by absorbing more stone into his body, but naturally has extremely tough and resiliant skin as he is made entirely of rock. Along with his rock body, Rubble is able to call forth molten earth to add to his mass, providing protection from cold or heat.
Super Leaping
As a ward of the hero, Spirit of Stone, Rogue Rubble learned from his mentor how to shift his own body mass to allow him leap great distances. No where near the distances that Spirit of Stone is able to leap, but Rubble continues to train in this in hopes of being able to keep up with his mentor while on missions together.
Regenerative Abilities
Herders within the Devouring Earth ranks have the ability to call forth a Tree of Life to provide a regenerative aura for their subordinates. Rock and Stone based Devouring Earth were imbued with the ability to tap into the Essance of Earth. Rubble has worked hard to increase his ability to tap into this Essance of Earth and is able to regenerate quickly if severe damage is taken to his rocky body. This "quick fix" is taxing on his energies and can only be used sparingly. He has recently learned to root his own legs into the ground beneath him and allow for a slower flow of the Essance of Earth to travel up his legs and regenerate him at a slower rate during a battle. This skill causes him to have difficulty moving when needed; however, and is generally only used when foes are surrounding him.
Character History
Rubble began life as a minion within the ranks of the Devouring Earth, unimportant, unknown, and simply one of the hive.
Meeting Spirit of Stone
Rubble first encountered Stone by word of mouth. He had heard other Devouring Earth talking about "the spirit of the stones" and his ridiculous attempts to talk to them. Most of the Earthen breed laughed these attempts off, while the Plant and Fungi breed seemed oddly curious about this human. Rubble began keeping an eye out whenever he was in a party that encountered a group of heroes, hoping to catch a glimpse of this "spirit of the stones."
He got his chance, finally and encountered Stone in a cave beneath Talos Island. He was with another human known as Caios, but whom the Devouring called, "Death made flesh." Rubble held back as the Devouring party he was with attacked and watched as Stone attempted to talk with any of the Earthen breed, but was forced to attack when they attacked.
At the end of the battle "death made flesh" sensed the small rubble hiding and leapt at him. Rubble's legs trembled as he knew the end was at hand for him. Stone stopped her and pointed out that he hadn't attacked them. Caios was relucant to let the creature go, but Tommy insisted he wasn't evil on the sole bases that he hadn't attacked them.
Tommy then did a thing that shocked the rubble and was hard for him to explain later. He knelt down, speaking loudly at the creature and said, "No look here's lil' baby rock mans, we is gunna lets y'all goes, but y'all has ta not 'tacks no udder peep-holes no mo'. Y'all can chooses ta be a good rock mans an' not no bad rock mans, if'n y'all wants to." Tommy leaned forward and hugged the small creature, which was terrified that it was about to be eaten.
Tommy stood up, patted the rubble on it's head and left, uttering one final request, "Choose Good."
Rebelling against Hamidon
This simple instruction from Stone had an impact on the small rubble. The idea of choice was not common in the ranks of minions of the Devouring Earth. They were basically slaves to the chemical commands of Hamidon and linked in a hive like mind with the gelatinous creature.
Rubble discussed his encounter with "the spirit of the stones" with other minions he knew, several of them laughed at him, but a small number of them were intrigued by this idea of choice.
The small number of minions eventually grew to a rebellious force nearly 20 strong, including Herders, Granites, Crystals, and Fungiods. Rubble's inability to speak well warped Stone's idea of "choose good" into "Chaulks Goo!" and became the battle cry of this band of Devouring Earths that were shrugging off the bonds placed on them by Hamidon.
Stone and Caios later encountered a group of the Rebellious Earth during a raid on Eden and both were shocked to see how their chance encounter with a small rubble had turned out.
Becoming a Hero
Stone learned of a plot against the Rebellious Earth being hatched by several Devoured monsters and quickly made his way to Eden and the rebels hidden caves to warn them. The rebels were secreted out of Eden and hidden in various caverns and caves throughout the city, but Stone had one last request for this rogue rubble. He asked rubble to return to the city and live. He encouraged him to register as a hero and bring attention to the quite rebellion happening amongst the Devouring Earth.
Caios and other members of GAR cautioned Tommy about this plan to bring the rogue rubble home and warned that City Hall may not be as excited as he thought about the idea of a Devouring creature turning hero.
True to form City Hall and SERAPH in particular were more interested in studying Rubble than registering him. They wanted to discover how he and the other rebels had freed themselves from Hamidon's controls.
Tommy protested strongly at the idea of his new friend becoming a lab rat and threatened to go public with the whole story, feeling certain he could rally the hero community around protecting Rubble for this fact. SERAPH and City Hall relented, allowing Rubble to remain a ward of Stone's, but required regular visits to SERAPH headquarters in Atlas Park.
After moving in Stone in Brimstone Bobby's boarding house GAR discovered a plot against Paragon City and the world as a whole, being hatched by an alternate group of Rikti hailing from an alternate dimension than the original Rikti had come from.
During the battle for Perez Park, Rogue Rubble enlisted the aid of an army of the Rebellious Earth to aid GAR and it's allies to keep the alternate Rikti from establishing a beach head in Perez Park. Many Rebellious Earth died in the battle for Perez Park, but the line held and the alternate Rikti were pushed back. The result of GAR's alliance with known villians as well as their work to divert military assests from the Rikti crash site to The Park, along with their allowing a force of Devouring Earth access to a restricted area, resulted in GAR being disbanded by City Council.
The involved members of GAR, including Rogue Rubble, were allowed to keep their hero licenses, but the group was dismantled. Rogue Rubble did not have a clear understanding of these politics when the dust settled, but in the aftermath, former GAR member, Dreamkatcher, hatched a plan with Brimstone Bobby to open a school for teen meta humans and Rubble would be amoung the first to attend.
Going to School
Paragon Regional Institute for Meta-Education was opened by Dreamkatcher and Brimstone Bobby, called PRIME for short, Rubble was amoung the first students enrolled in the school.
In his second year at the school now, Rubble's english has improved dramatically as well as his social skills when dealing with other humans. Rubble at first was skittish around humans, but as he had grown accustomed to them through his classes at PRIME and his work as a hero, he had developed an outgoing and curious personality.
His age is unknown, as Devouring Earth do not appear to make their date of creation, but his social interactions seem to shine the best around other students in the 15-17 age range. During his time at PRIME he has begun to experiment with more human endeavors, such as wearing clothing. He is particularly fond of his letterman's jacket in the school's colors. He wears this regularly, in spite of the fact that PRIME does not currently have any sporting teams.
His most recent experiment has been to create hair for himself. He achieved this by simply purchasing a Chia Pet from a local department store and placing the seeds and goo on his own head instead of the clay figurine it came with. He is quite proud of the crop of green seedlings currently growing on his head and does his best to keep them watered and trimmed neatly.
