SUMMARY
A thoroughly sinister and psychotic villain known only as Spydro, is recruited by Arachnos despite his unknown origin. The recruit proves to be so dangerous that he is pawned off to a lesser affiliate of Arachnos known as MEDUSA where he begins to assimilate power and allies to commit his evil deeds.
Who or what Spydro is remains a mystery. It is very likely Spydro himself is unaware of how he came to be.

ORIGIN
Even the highest security levels of Arachnos are unaware of Spydro’s history or origin. Many speculate that nobody knows the true origins of Spydro – not even Spydro himself.
The first records of Spydro’s existence date back only to earlier this year. He wandered into an Arachnos recruiting station, as a raw recruit. He had no identification papers and a titanium mask covering his entire face. He was also wearing a crude suit of armor, (clearly stolen from another Arachnos recruit, a direct violation of Arachnos law). Arachnos decided to not recruit the young man and instead imprison him for vagrancy and theft. They asked him to remove his mask, and Spydro refused. The recruiting station had a difficult time subduing Spydro and even after they managed it, he escaped his cell shortly afterward, killing several of his guards in the process. The fighting skills and tenacity of Spydro were impressive enough that Kalinda agreed to waive the security protocol and adapt him as a recruit.
During training, they discovered Spydro’s mask was actually fused to his face – and could not be removed. The rest of his body was badly burned and lacerated, scarred beyond belief – and yet he seldom complained of the pain. Even more strange was the fact that none of his wounds ever seemed to hearl. Spydro explained that pain made him “stronger”, and so he had willed his body to never fully heal itself, so that he could live in a constant state of mortal pain, )which Spydro claims is a “holy” state of existence). Some even speculate that some of Spydro’s wounds are self-inflicted, and perhaps even inflicted by sheer mental-will.
It has been observed Spydro could create horrible blisters on his arm by just concentrating briefly on the area he wanted the blister to appear.
Spydro claims to know nothing of his past of how he came to be. He passes all lie detector tests when asked these questions, and no amount of torture or hypnosis derives any kind of answers. Indeed, torture doesn’t work on Spydro at all - he finds the entire experience rather fascinating, for he enjoys experiencing pain – as well as inflicting pain on others.
Spydro rocketed up the chain of command in a matter of months. He was a ruthless fighter and a skilled tactician. He had an advanced IQ and an innate knowledge of military protocol and discipline. As a result, he could command small platoons of troops with an effective combination of alacrity and cruelty. He frightens most others – he seems to exude a cold, merciless evil and he is both cunningly swift in intellect and brutally vicious in getting what he wants.
He was so frightening that Arachnos passed him off to “Special Projects” in late summer. Here, he went under the direct tutelage of Floral Madness and was watched carefully by Ghost Widow for his potential. He thrived under this special training, committing a heinous crime-spree and learning of a secret Freedom Corps facility underneath the water just outside Cap Au Diable. The information he provided, allowed a new organization called MEDUSA to seize the facility and claim it as their base of operations. That organization is led by Floral Madness and funded directly by Ghost Widow and other high-level operatives.
To reward Spydro for his efforts, he was promoted in rank and given the opportunity to don a set of custom “crab legs”, a special weapon that hooks to a recruit’s back and provides “spider legs” that hang over the head. These “legs” each possess a high-velocity plasma canon and can be controlled via trigger mechanisms built into the backpack. Spydro, agreed to the promotion, but suggested the “crab legs” not be a back pack at all. He pointed to the advances in cyber-bionics and demanded that the weapons be grafted onto his spine. Spydro even supplied the radical designs of Doctor Geist as a prototype. He then improved the designs and perfected them once the surgery was ratified.
Spydro’s surgery was both a miracle of science and a horror-show. Spydro refused anesthetic while complex bionic transmitters were fused to his spine – then once the transmitters were secure – large robotic spider-claws were then grafted into his skin and spine to receive commands from the bionic transmitters. The surgery took days, and was mortally painful throughout – and yet Spydro seemed to enjoy and revel in the experience – and acted more like a creature in euphoria than pain. Throughout the process, his mask stayed on – the surgeons were unable to figure out how to remove the mask without killing him. To this day, nobody has seen Spydro without his mask!
Spydro’s “transformation” is now complete, and the plasma canon “crab legs” are now a lethal and natural extension of his own body.
New Mask
In November of 2009, Spydro invents a new mask, removing his original through self-administered surgery. The new mask allows for greater flexibility and is sutured to his skin and then wired directly into his cerebral cortex via enhanced cyber-bionics.
The new mask (along with its targeting reticle, neuro-enhancers and optical data storage), greatly improves Spydro's thought process. It also allows him to record all he sees into high-definition video and audio, which he beams in real time back to his laboratory in MEDUSA headquarters.
The mask is extremely painful, many of the cyber-bionic enhancements operate by tiny syringes that pierce through his skill into his cerebral cortex - and operate on the natural chemical stimulus of the human brain. It is widely speculated that if the mask were removed, he would die. The surgery to remove the mask however would likely take days.
PERSONALITY
Spydro is a high-functioning psychotic with both sadistic and masochistic tendencies. He is cruel, he is ambitious and he is thoroughly evil. Spydro seems to value cruelty and evil more than wealth or power – and often sees lust for power as an extension of a weak ego. Spydro enjoys command, but doesn’t seek it, he sees it merely as a mean’s to an end. What he desires most of all is suffering, torment and destruction – and all his plans are geared towards these three goals.
Spydro is highly disciplined – and detests all weakness. He never complains – and enjoys pain on all levels. He is tireless, sleeping rarely – with a keen mind. He has demonstrated high-level aptitudes in physics, biology, applied mathematics, history and is even a keen student of the arts. He speaks with elevated diction, and is deliberate and careful with his words.
He appears to have only one weakness: he utterly despises a group of heroes known as Alpha Squad. He will sacrifice just about anything to do them harm.
If Spydro were to be a character in the movies, he’d probably be played by Ralph Fiennes.
