Alison had always been lucky, even going so far as to say unbelievably lucky. Having survived two catastrophes leading to the deaths of her friends and an almost successful assassination attempt were proof of her super-natural luck. Luck only helped to keep Alison alive, however, and she bore many scars from events she'd walked away from. While most the scars took physical form, there were subtle ones beneath the skin that wore on her mental state, leaving the young woman plagued with phobias and mild psychosis.
Alison still weathered on to become a hero, until the loss of her arm to a plasma bomb pushed her out of the lime-light of the hero world. Still determined to help, she took to a more management role as the leader and founder of a group known as the New Age Outsiders. A group of misfit heroes, some who had villainous pasts and wanted redemption. Seeking a new base of operations, Alison managed to procure a mansion on the outskirts of Paragon City. Little did Alison know that her life would be forever changed.
During the first few days of the move to the mansion, there were mentions of it being haunted and personal items going missing. Dismissing the complaints as fiction, Alison insisted there where no ghosts in the mansion. Although an unbeliever, it was Alison who discovered the source of the ghostly myth. Coming home to an energy being searching through her underwear drawer shocked the young woman. Surprised and taken aback by the strange creature, Alison first treated it with open hostility. It wasn't until the energy being declared itself a Kheldian that Alison let the alien speak.
The Kheldian had been living in the empty mansion ever since it had arrived on Earth. When Alison and her group moved in, the being had only been curious. Seeking a possible host to inherit it's powers into, the only non-powered individual who would benefit from the merger was Alison. According to Dawn's Minuet, it was only trying to understand the beings with which it might meld with. While initially skeptical, Alison accepted the offer. Her body being repaired and her new powers manifesting allowed her to become a hero again as Star Gleam.
The Kheldian
Dawn's Minuet is what can best be described as a Kheldian artist. Using it's energy based abilities to perform beautiful (even to the human eye) works of light and star fire. This is reflected in the 'costume' worn by the hero Star Gleam. The designs changing and shifting to represent the natural forms of energy displayed by stars, fire, and electricity.
The being has what seems to most humans a female personality. The personality is also bright and vibrant, being that Dawn's Minuet is still very young for a Kheldian. This personality often clashes with Alison's own darker mood. Despite their differences, the bond between the two is a benefit and both have displayed enjoyment with the merger.
Getting to Know Alison
Personality
Alison has always been an aloof, dark individual. She's mysterious even to those that know her best, yet often times it feels as if she can be read like an open book. No one can for sure say why her personality has turned out like it has. It could be that growing up an orphan has made her dealings with other people come across as odd. The other possibility is that it's an act, something buried deep in her subconscious.
Her attitude on life's many vices is a very open one. Drinking and smoking do not seem to be bad to her, and her views on sex are open. Alison often steps on the toes of decency by speaking casually about sexuality.
History
An orphan ever since she could remember, Alison grew up in a foster home in France never knowing her parents. Spending most of her childhood in the care of the government, Alison was finally adopted and left the orphanage when she was nine years old.
It was at this time Alison was inducted into a special school for those gifted in psionics. It was no normal school, however, and was in fact funded by Arachnos to help find and train the future Fortunata's and Night Widows of Arachnos. Long years of grueling treatment and training molded Alison into a machine to serve and enforce the will of Arachnos and Lord Recluse.
Alison worked for Arachnos until the death of her husband at her own hands. Fleeing into hiding for many years, and taking up the mantle of the hero Wivern until the loss of her arm.
An Artist at Heart
Alison considers art to be the rawest form of passion, comparable only to love in its intensity. A born writer and novelist, she spends much of her free time thinking up and writing down new stories and worlds of fantasy and magic. Dabbling in performing arts and painting, Alison is a well rounded artist. The only form of expression she has proven to be unable to perform is music. Whether this is by choice or pure inability is not known to anyone.
Weaknesses
Having merged with the Kheldian has caused Alison's body to attain a near constant state of pure energy. While she looks normal to most people, it's much harder to hurt her and completely impossible to permanently injure her through normal means. She is, however, not invincible and completely vulnerable to the weaknesses of the average Kheldian. She can be permanently killed by a quantum gun, or by another Kheldian entity.
