Overview

This will be where logs of past and present plotlines and stories in Vagrant Investigations are posted. They'll be seperated into Chapter, Act, and Scene. A Chapter will be a whole, complete plot, an Act will be significant plot threads, and Scenes will be the RP scenes. A summary of the events so far will be posted under the Chapter title, followed by a summary of the Act so far, and followed by the logs in the Scene divisions.

Chapter 1: Back in Paragon

Finally free of bureacracy and crazy family who want to kill him, Minarius de la Rosa, now going by Magnum Vagrant, moves to Paragon City to start his new life. To that end, he starts a PI firm, Vagrant Investigations, and starts taking cases. After a few cases end in him losing more of his precious few remaining lives, he hires a partner, Amelie Girard, and goes straight to the work.

Act 1: A New Partner And A New Case

Realizing that Magnum can no longer handle the increased casual violence of Paragon City on his own, he posts an ad in the want-ad section of the Paragon Times. However, after a few failed interviews, Magnum decides to take matters into his own hands. Hitting Pocket D to drink his troubles away, he falls into conversation with Amelie Girard, whom he notices because of her choice of attire, namely a trenchcoat and fedora. As fashion sense is apparently his only true qualification for employment, he ascertains her unemployed status and hires her as his first new partner. Luckily, he had a case that required her case immediately, that of the subdual of a Tsoo gangster known as the Iron Mane. It was handled by Amelie and him with minimum fuss, as his astonishment of her ease in combat justified his gut decision to hire her. Like he said, 'I've foun'm'bes'partners as random strangers in pubs.' A day later, he was contacted by the parents of one Bellin Paravano. Bellin had apparently disappeared walking home from work. With some preliminary legwork done by Amelie and Magnum, which involved some questioning of the employees at Bellin's place of work and a bit of conflict with a local Skull gang, they have a lead, but Magnum collapsed from injuries sustained in combat before he was able to share the information with Amelie. Waking up in his office a few minutes afterwards, he told Amelie that while the Skulls did shake Bellin down for protection money, they had apparently not had anything to do with his disappearance. With a bit of backtracking, they called Bellin's girlfriend, learning that for the past couple of days, he had been excited for a new 'magical' anniversary gift he'd purchased for her. A bit of questioning revealed that the gift had been obtained through an old friend. With a bit of guidance from Magnum, Amelie deduced that the old friend could possibly be one of the Hellions that Bellin had once run with before going clean. Magnum contacted Powell and obtained the number of the Hellion that Bellin had spent time with in the Zig. As the two were heading back to the office the next day, they found five dead bodies clustered around the entrance to the pawn shop that occupied the first part of the building. A homicide detective from the nearby station questioned Magnum about the murders, though Magnum told him to get a warrant or get out. The detective left, but not without saying that they'd be in touch and dropping Magnum's MI-13 designation. Next, they headed down to the tenement where the Hellion lived, and after a few less than painless questions, they learned that the Hellion had sold a magical ring that was stolen from the Circle of Thorns to Bel. Magnum figured that the Circle was a likely culprit for Bellin's disappearance, if they'd managed to track down the stolen ring. He got another stolen artifact from the Hellion and then headed back to his office, calling up Athanasius Crey to help him track it. Crey tracked the astral link between the stolen artifact and it's previous owner to a sewer in the Gish. Figuring he'd need a bit more backup than usual for this case, Magnum called up the Scarlet Visor, a hero he'd met earlier that day. The four of them proceeded into the sewers, breaking their way into the hidden Circle cave inside. Magnum directed the women to cause a distraction while he and Crey snuck deeper into the cave and saved Bellin. After a bit of combat for both groups, Magnum was told by a fleeing Circle mage that the ring was more powerful than he could ever understand. A bit later, the group located Bellin, and the ring, which was floating atop a pedestal. Magnum grabbed the ring, and Amelie grabbed Bellin, moments before the cave began to collapse on top of them, while a huge boulder started to roll behind them. They made it out moments before the boulder smashed itself to pieces against a wall, ring and Bellin included.

Act 2

Min had a date, with Blood Ivy, though it was 'purely professional' in her words. She was an artist, and Min, having obtained two tickets to a high society showing at the Paragon Gallery of Modern Arts, offered to take her. She acquiesced, and they made their way to the Gallery. After a few introductions and a bit of conflict with one of his younger sisters, Juno, they proceeded to make their way around the gallery, looking at the bits of art on exhibition. A particular landscape portrait caught Min's attention, but before he was able to examine it fully, he was interrupted by an old co-worker of his from his days at MI-13, Bollinger. After a few words, Bollinger left, and Ivy began to show some kind of strain, and asked if they could leave. Min agreed, but before they were able to leave, the lights cut out. When they flickered back on, a woman lay dead at Min's feet. Ivy disappeared in the commotion, and Min handed his business card to the curator of the gallery before leaving himself. The next night, Amelie discovers Min drunk and stumbling into the office. The curator whom Min gave his business card to arrives for a scheduled appointment, which Amelie handles since Min is too drunk to talk or think coherently. The curator hires Vagrant Investigations to find the impressionist landscape painting, saying that the murder was only secondary in importance. After he leaves, Detective Macintosh arrives and, seeing Min's drunken state, decides to arrest him on suspicion of a triple homicide. Amelie interferes, and after a bit of conflict, Macintosh leaves when Powell arrives, but says that he'll be seeing the two around. Powell explains to Amelie a bit of Min's history, and gives her an explanation for Min's drunken stupor. The night after, Minarius is thankfully sober, and Amelie and him discuss the case. Before they're able to leave however, Bollinger arrives and asks for their help in finding the painting, which was on loan from the British Royal Museum. Since that's their goal anyway, Min agrees, but they're interrupted once again by the arrival of Azzy Watanabe and Trinity Phoenix. Azzy, a precog, had had dreams about the painting, and Trinity is her handler. After a dubiously useful recall of Azzy's dream, Min gets annoyed and asks them to leave, learning that they work for a covert paramilitary group known as Strike Force Zero.

Chapter 2: Back On the Clock

After a two-year absence due to familial circumstances, Minarius de la Rosa has returned to Paragon City. The city hasn't changed, but he has. He arrives to find his old office in disrepair and crappier looking then usual, though untouched by looters and squatters. His old partner and friends are nowhere to be found, but the mysterious ring that he'd gotten so many years ago still sits in his trophy drawer. After a bit of fixing up, he reopens Vagrant Investigations. No sooner than he'd gained his first ally, a Kings Row cop by the name of TJ Hutchinson, and hired a new associate, a German researcher known as the Pale Professor, than he's attacked by the Circle of Thorns. For some reason, they'd waited during his absence to retrieve the ring. After the three men fought the Circle off, it was back to business as usual for Vagrant Investigations, but Magnum Vagrant knows that the past will always come back to haunt you...

Act 1: Never The Good Kind of Tentacles

Min got a call from an old ex-Skull contact of his, a man by the name of Bek Ni Chan. The man told him of a mass gathering of Skulls in a warehouse not far from Min's office, and warned him that the meeting was giving him a bad feeling. It gave Min one as well, since as soon he stepped out of the office, a dark fog had seemed to envelop the city. The fog had nearly no physical presence, but brought along feelings of despair and depression. The closer Min got to the warehouse, the stronger the feeling became, to the point where only Min's long experience and training kept him going. Luckily, he ran into two heroes drawn by the fog as well, a restless young man known as Dave, and a woman known as Gun-Runner. Together, they explored the horror-show of the warehouse, culminating in an encounter with the Arachnos Operative sponsoring the ritual. After defeating the Operative, a new threat arose and disappeared just as quickly, but Min knew it was not of this universe...Or multiverse.

Act 2: It's Always the Pretty Ones

Finally, Min had a case. After hiring a few new associates, the Warshare Fourty-Two and the inquisitor Diz the Goblin, Magnum Vagrant felt it was time to get back on track. Luckily, fate provided him just that opportunity, in the form of a stunning French Mender of Oroborous named Angelique. She hired Vagrant Investigations to solve a murder...but things are never that simple. The murdered, as it turned out, wasn't due to die for five years. Itching for some kind of lead, Min and 42 went over to the not-yet-dead man's house, a fellow known as Bellic Milosec. Unfortunately, they were ambushed by a group of Void Hunters intent on punishing the Warshade for his betrayal. Though Min and 42 fought the Hunters back, a stray shot hit Milosec, who was leaving his house. To the surprise of all, Milosec exploded, revealing himself to be a robot...
