"The guy's kinda surreal. Big angry scary guy with a soft spot for children and clowns. Too bad he and the clowns have a tendency to inflict primal fear on the kids."

Played by Vinnie Frizzle, the conniving treacherous bastard. Brother Sentinel Is a 50 Willpower / Super Strength Tanker, of the Science origin.

Brother Sentinel has allowed his Hero identity to blend in with his real one, with his name publicly available. Regardless, his fearsome reputation seems to be enough to protect anyone that he becomes close to. He publicly walks the fine line between Hero and Anti-Hero every day, though secretly, he's fallen face first into some very morally dissonant territory. As for his Inspiration, the idea was basically "Captain America with a Slavic accent, the willpower of a high ranked Green Lantern, and a killing edge." The kind of guy that will put his own life on the line every day, cannot be broken from his principles, at all, ever, and absolutely WILL NOT STOP until Evil is brought to justice... Even if that justice is served by his own hand, with a bit of permanency to it. Fits squarely into the Determinator trope.

Affiliations

Vinnie Frizzle is sort of an Arch-enemy of Sentinel's. Sort of, because they were both active Vanguard operatives during the second Rikti Invasion, often working together on many Ops.

Ali Mu'Sarat for the same reason as Vinnie. War Buddies. Though this friendship is legit.

Vanguard - Yevgeny is a loyal member of the United Nations organization.

Personality

Gruff, Prone to anger, but utterly selfless in the face of adversity, and visibly fearless. However, according to him, he feels fear in every fight, mainly for those around him, but also for himself. He claims this fear is what keeps him going. He is a big fan of children, despite his hard exterior. He likes spending time at orphanages and schools, teaching about courage, discretion and valor, hard work and determination. He's your regular altruistic hero. However on his stance with evil... If you're doing something he thinks is wrong, God help you and feel lucky if you spend less than a month in the hospital.

He also tends to be a tad Boastful. Amoung his favourite boasts are...

I helped build the war walls, you know. See that one there? With my bare hands!(Though this is actually true in more than a few cases, though his habit is to point at a random War Wall, rather than take the time to remember exactly which ones he helped build.)

Me and Jack O'Malley built Survivor Construction from nothing but a bucket of tools, and a weathered red pickup truck!(Exaggeration. Miraculously Big O'Malley's main Warehouse survived the war, mostly intact. In fact, it remained locked and unlooted during the chaos of the war.)

I am "Big" with the ladies, heh heh.(Yevgeny's love life is actually notoriously bad. In fact, his worst breakup may, or may not, have caused a woman to have become a Villain simply out of spite. Also a Mall Goth.)

Geny is also a big fan of Clowns. They are one of the few things that can make him come vaguely close to cracking a smile.

Powers

Malleable Genetic Structure: Originally the reason he was kidnapped for The Council to serve as their testbed. He discovered the power while in their labs. A combincation of his incredible willpower, and understanding of this power, allows him to direct any mutagenic, or transforming influence under his direct control making him, effectively, Immune to mutation. However, he can direct it wherever he wants. Unfortunately, this requires him to expose himself to often hazardous materials to begin a wild mutation catalyst for him to harness. He does this very seldom.

Super Strength: No one is quite sure how it happened, not even Yevgeny, but Geny's muscle cells have become far more densely packed and tough than thought humanly possible. The same with his tendons an ligaments to compensate. While certainly not along the same caliber as Statesman or Ascendant, Brother Sentinel can still tear apart the toughest foe with relative ease. He's also Much faster. In an odd side effect, the Angrier Brother Sentinel gets, the STRONGER. Don't piss him off.

Tough Skeleton: Best way to explain it. The Council experimental treatments were meant to do this, and were amoung the first things changed on Yevgeny, before his mutation allowed redirection of the program. His skeleton appears to be reinforced with a ceramic lattice, and sheath, making it Nigh unbreakable.

Unstoppable Will: There have been many situation in Yevgeny's life, even long before his transformation, where he survived simply on his will to survive. His will to live is very likely his strongest power. Even when he's scared to death, this will to survive, and will to Win, will make him actively seek out and defeat the biggest, nastiest target he can find. He shrugs off the direst of injuries, resists the deadliest of magics an assaults on his mind, always coming back for more. This will also keeps his mutations in check. He keeps focused on it enough that he can resist these mutations even while sleeping, unconscious, or otherwise incapacitated.

Super Speed: Tied to his super strength, Yevgenvy was able to shape the super soldier treatments into a combination of that strength, and the speed and reaction time to direct it to best effect. Also he can run VERY fast. His signature combat style usually includes a flurry of small, fast blows followed by one big powerful punch. He once tried to throw a large object and someone, then outrun it to disorient it with a flurry of blows before it hit. That was also the last time he tried that stunt.

Equipment

Preferring to use his mind and strength to accomplish things, Yevgeny doesn't have much in the way of equipment. However, he keeps a few things to assist him. Most notably.

Shock-absorbing boots: These heavy boots, equipped with pneumatic shock absorbers, helps improve his running speed by taking much of the impact out of his steps. Yevgeny is perfectly capable of running at high speed without them, but prefers to use them for that purpose due to the strain on his ankles without them.

Vanguard Issue Impervium Armor: He doesn't wear it often(preferring to use only the chest underlay), but he usually lugs it out whenever there are particularly dangerous foes to fight, such as the Rikti, or the Nemesis Army. Also when Portal-jumping.

History

Born in the outskirts of Kiev, Ukraine, Yevgeny Malkov grew up middle class, with Superhero Parents. While still an infant, his parents made an strange pact. One would leave with the elder son and move to America, while the other would remain. Even as a boy, he seemed to have his signature scowl, despite being a happy child. Very little is known, other than his training to become a chemist, and eventually running out of money for his education, forcing him into manual labor. However, he claims to have enjoyed this. Soon he came to America, specifically Paragon City, after discovering his long lost older brother, Detective Josef Malkov. Getting established, and learning English, Yevgeny was hired by Big O'Malley Construction, and worked there for several years, up until his citizenship was attained, and he received a promotion to the position of Foreman.

Suddenly thrust into the hellscape of this brutal invasion, Yevgeny found himself leading his workers in a guerilla campaign against the Rikti. Using nothing but scavenged weapons and construction tools, the brave workers were cut down one by one, until only Yevgeny, and the company's owner Jake O'Malley remained. It was then that he met Statesman. Pulling the two men out of the rubble, the first words out of Geny's mouth were "I am ready to continue fighting, Statesman." Of course he wasn't, and passed out immediately afterward.

Shortly after the end of the first Rikti War, Yevgeny awoke from his coma. Though most expected him to die, even unconscious, his almost supernatural will to survive kept him alive, even fit, during the period. After getting his bearings and readjusting, Geny was met by his old boss, Jake O'Malley. Looking out at the rubble, they decided together to reform the company, as Malkov & O'Malley Construction. It stayed that way only 2 days, when a new "more fitting" was suggested by one of the new hires. "Survivor Reconstruction." Survivor, as it was known for short, got A LOT of work in the post war period. While it's often played off as Geny's boastfulness, he did, personally, have a hand in the construction of some of Paragon's Post-War War Walls.

Things were going well, and Survivor's staff grew in size. Sadly, Jake O'Malley died of a heart attack in 2006. At the same time, Yevgeny Malkov was kidnapped by The Council. During the absence of the two famous leaders of the company, it was bought out by it's direct competitor, Paragon Construction.

During his time in the Council's hands, he was experimented on extensively. A combination of his incredible will to survive, and a previously unknown minor mutation(that made him susceptible to easy genetic manipulation), made him their testbed for their next generation of super soldier. Unfortunately for them, once he figured out what was going on, Yevgeny was able to shape the effects to his liking. He made himself appear to be little more than a pumped up Cor Leonis. Deeming this a failure, the attempted to have him killed. Mr. Malkov escaped using his newfound strength to butcher his captors. He was never caught for the crime, and still regrets what he did to this day(due to having lost control of his rage). In his return to the world in late 2006, Yevgeny found himself in a terrible predicament. Months had passed. His belongings had, thankfully, been taken by his brother, but he was without home, or work. His company, Survivor Reconstruction, no longer existed. It was all in a shambles. And on top of that, he was now over 7 feet tall, and built like a bodybuilder. Rooming with his brother, Geny made a fateful decision. Become a hero. Upon registering, he was thrust into the great adventure that is Super-heroism.

He gained strength, and some notoriety(there are a lot of heroes like him. Huge, strong, tough, that sort of thing. Blends in with the others,) and some money. He enjoyed his new life. He was one of the minority that believed in modern Superheroes and was one himself, emulating them, with his own unique twists. Much of his career, was rather low-key. Almost deliberately so. He seemed darker in these days. Angrier. Quieter. Constantly preoccupied. Though according to some, he's actually never participated in any Task Force. Somehow, though, he managed to gain an Archnemesis of sorts. The treacherous Vinnie Frizzle. Oddly, at that time, he'd never been seen publicly fighting this dangerous con-artist.

Then came the Second Rikti Invasion. Yevgeny took to this with an almost disturbing amount of relish, compensating for his feelings of helplessness and fear during the first war. It was here that he met the enigmatic Ali Mu'Sarat. He also found himself alongside his enemy Vinnie Frizzle, and the Arachnos agent known as Operative Griffin. When the initial fighting died down to containable levels, these men and their associates returned to their old paths.

In recent times, Brother Sentinel appears to be more public than in recent memory. Though questions abound as to why, he seems almost relieved, if a bit bothered as of late.

Weakness and Limitations

Unstoppable Will: Bet you didn't see THAT coming. While his will lets him keep going in the face of the worst injuries and circumstances, once the fight ends, and he lets up a little, things can get very bad VERY quickly. Yes, his resilience is definitely above human standards and his body is much tougher, but this is giant robots, supernatual powers, and space aliens we're talking about here. Beings that would snuff out a normal human with the bat of an eye. Basically, his will is a double edged sword.

Not THAT Strong: Sure, his strength and resilience are superhuman, by far. Tossing cars, trust, construction machinery, around with relative ease. He can tear things up. Drop a Building on him? Might wanna change that Hero identity to "Bloodstain on the pavement." He's no Superman.

Incredibly Bullheaded: Tied to his incredible will to survive. Once 'Geny puts his mind to something, he's nearly impossible to steer away from that goal. If he's put his mind up to fighting a Zeus-class Titan alone, He's gonna punch that damn robot as hard as he can, and repeat this punching till he's either knocked out, or the robot is scrap metal, and God help anything that gets in his way. Hell the family motto is "Malkovs never give up. Malkovs never surrender."

Publicity

Brother Sentinel is a semi-well known hero, at this point. He has a cult following large enough to warrant the attention of enterprising agents and merchandisers. Publicly and privately, Yevgeny rejects most offers, other than those involving appearances at Schools and other child-centric facilities. At these events, he often stresses the benefits of hard work and togetherness. He likes to hold a "Protective Big Brother" image. He is also hugely supportive of Labor Unions, still holding membership in Paragon City's Local 823 Teamsters, from when he first started working Construction Pre-Rikti War. While he holds exempt status for paying his dues, he does so anyway. On top of that, he seems to enjoy science fairs, usually showing up unannounced to many of those run at local schools. He seems to love Actively cultivating his "Working Man Hero" image.

He has also made it known that he is a big fan of the gadgeteer clown hero High Jinks, though much to his dismay, he has only made a passing acquaintanceship with his favored comedian.

IC Comments

He hasn't had much publicity, but I don't intend to let it stay that way. Soon I'll pick him up more and get more involved Blueside.

Rumors

None to speak of as this time. The "D-Listers" have been considered and forgotten. The idea was just another stereotypical malicious Anti-Hero excuse, and I've decided to Purify Brother Sentinel a bit.
