Jasmine Cross

Avatar.jpg

Jasmine would be best known for is her heart and determination. Despite the experiences and misfortunes in her life, she always expresses concern through her actions, honesty and straight forward attitude. Jasmine has many abilities and skills that range from her combat experience, her healing and ability to compliment the team she works with with her own abilities. When it comes to combat she is very focused at the task at hand and has a very low tolerance to foolish mistakes. While she can be stubborn and at times harsh, she always means well. Above all, what makes her a valuable asset to whom ever she joins, is her personality and determination to help even if it's at the cost of her life and well being.

The Beginning

Rogue Isle Police Report: January 15, 1984, 7:36pm. A baby girl was brought into the precinct. The child was heavily wrapped and upon initial inspection looked like it was born only an hour or two at most. The child was rushed to the nearby medical unit. Investigation would be underway for the parents. She was placed in the infant nursery for care. After multiple tests, the baby was one hundred percent healthy. One of the nurses would note that whenever the baby was held, she would begin to glow. This unfortunately caused many of the other parents concern for their children. As a result, she was placed in a separate nursery. The Rogue Isles news learned of this and it was on the nightly news the next day.

The unnamed child needed to be cared for. The local adoption agency was contacted to find her a home. Upon knowledge of the child's "glowing" effect, many people were not interested in adopting her out of fear. A government official caught news of this child and decided it would be best to get this child as soon as possible. After additional tests, the glowing effect was confirmed a rare mutation since most mutations remain latent until the child's adolescence. It was unknown what the effects of the baby's glow would cause, but if the mutation was showing this early, it needed to be controlled. A care taker was found by the name of Julia Cross. A single mother living in Upstate New York who would be willing to take care of her.

The baby received the name, Jasmine, after Julia's favorite flower. Julia was then given "medicine" that Jasmine would take to inhibit her abilities. Julia loved Jasmine like she was her own. She grew up happily.

Revelation

August 18, 2000 Jasmine Cross, the girl best known for her smile and for being the best goalie for the Notre Dame Junior/Senior High School girl's soccer team. She loves hot cocoa, long winters because of snow days and her birthday, she loved playing soccer and she disliked stuck up people and womanizing boys. She was an average student maintaining a two point five grade point average. She didn't have many friends, but she had a few close ones.

She was happy and respectful to her mother, but she was also curious too. Her curiosity came from learning more about the human body, psychology and chemistry. She began to question why she had to take medicine every day. She remembers taking this medication for as long as she has been living. When she questioned her mother as to why she would take them, she would never give her a clear explanation. Being typical to her age, she decided that she would not take them any longer. She would fool her mother by taking it in front of her, then spitting it out when she was no longer in the room. That is when everything started to change.

During her senior year, she didn't notice any changes until one soccer game. She readied to kick the ball across the field after catching it. When she kicked it, a burst of energy flashed upon impact. The kick launched the ball into the other side of the school. Another occasion happened in a physical education class, when Jasmine and the other students were playing volley ball. Upon readying for a spike, another flash of energy would burst upon impact launching the ball into the net, ripping it from it's support causing it to collapse and fall over. From then on she noticed that she would physically act faster, she would heal quicker then normal. While it was scary at first, she thought it was caused from physical reactions. As a result, she decided not to throw, kick, or hit any person or object hard. She never told this to her mother.

Weeks later, after applications to college were sent, she noticed that men in suits began watching her on the field. At first she was excited for a scholarship opportunity, little did she know that they were actually government agents. One day, she found those same men in suits now at her home with her mother. They revealed to her information about her mutation, the medicine and her adoption. She was furious with her mother feeling lied to. At the same time, she was sad because she no longer felt "normal". After the next few weeks, she eventually asked her mother for forgiveness for the way she acted and decided to learn more about herself and her abilities with the government.

The Patriot Project

Jasmine joined the Patriot Project soon after she finished High School. The Patriot Project is a government assembled group of mutants whose purpose was to be the heroes behind the scenes for the US armed forces. Each member is selected and tested extensively, making sure they would be successful on the field and successful working together as a team. Their motto was: "Turn the impossible to the possible". Originally created in 1977, the project was active for over 20 years now, this team of all the other teams had been the most successful.

Lead by Commander Weis, the Patriot Project members were: Rapid Shock also known as Victor Dealy, Amphitrion known as Eric Eison, Dr. Grayson Marlen, Stone Walker known as Marcus Johnson, and Luna Red known as Jasmine Cross. They were all referred to as "Project:" then their alias, such as "Project: Luna Red". The latest addition to the project was the incorporation of Crey Technology. They were the first unit to use the new revolutionary weaponry and tools from Countess Crey and her company. With the Crey's help the project achieved over 98% of their missions, the best percentage ever attained. What they didn't know was that the Crey was also using the project for their own purposes.

Abilities

Energy Blast

Energy Blast

One of her abilities is to manipulate the positive and negative electrons in the air to release a blast of energy towards her foes. She has learned to use this ability in different ways and levels of power. Depending on the level of her ability, she can knock back her foe a few yards, no matter their size. The difficulty of this ability is controlling her aim. She has the tendency to miss more then she would like.

Empathy

Empathy after the mutation

She also has the ability to heal as well as damage through the use of cell manipulation. Her powers mutated into a healing fire due to the anger and betrayal she felt while in the zig. She can use it help as well as hurt. She can increase cell regeneration to speed up the healing process as well as decrease and stop cell regeneration to prevent her foes from healing themselves and to intensify pain. Both of these powers are tied to her mind. She is now at the point where she can control the fire that her empathy has become when she needs it.

Telepathy

Night Widow
Telepathy

Jasmine telepathic abilities didn't surface until she joined the Arachnos. She was able to learn easily due to her family background and the use of her mind through her other abilities. She commonly would be able to speak to others through their minds. As she developed her powers, she has been able to go into the minds of others. She doesn't go into anyone's mind without permission and does not use it for malicious intent. From time to time she will receive visions of one's past or future, though it has been some time since this ability surfaced causing her to believe that she no longer has it. Her power has recently developed to where she can go into their minds and cause harm whether through domination, confusion or physically sending her foes into harm. Her abilities continue to develop including erasing and restoring memories.

Night Widow

Jasmine acquired the skills and abilities of a Night Widow when she worked under Ghost Widow. At will, Jasmine can go into her Night Widow costume. This can be seen when her body erupts in fire, changing her costume. Recently she started to re-train her combat abilities to return to her peak physique and strength in close combat. This was the result of many life changing events in her life.

Limitations

Jasmine has developed her telepathic ability through training, but she is still vulnerable to any foe with stronger telepathic power. She has a fear of the Rikti for that reason. As strong mentally as she is, she is still vulnerable to physical attacks. She is no match to an opponent of superior physical strength.

Current Events

Jasmine has put her costume away and decided to become "inactive". With the many events and loss that she had in the late spring/early summer, her desire to patrol steadily decreased. In September, She decided to go to school and work full time to finish her degree. She resigned from her team position in both the Pariah Project and the Ascension Foundation. She now attends medical school with her cousin, Alexis.

Ever since she was partnered with him and even to this day, she carries a deep care for him that can very easily be confused for love. Though there is something there that both would never admit to.

One of Jasmine's strongest characteristics is also one of her greatest weaknesses, her heart. Her drive to do whatever it takes to help and love someone, is often not reciprocated. As a result, she finds her self left with the expectation of not getting back what is given emotionally.

Eventually she left the isles to cope and try and live a normal life. Upon her return she would speak to him again due to their association with Kokage. Ultimately, Jasmine knew that despite the feelings she had for him, he had to do what he had to and she cannot interfere. With that, she ended the little contact with each other for good. She will always respect him for what he does, even help if it was needed, but fate would have it that feelings is not something that he can afford in his fight. After some time, they spoke to each other again. They have also worked with each other both the Pariah Project and Ascension Foundation. Certain things have happened to him that has changed his out look on life. Jasmine does not know entirely why, but she is thankful regardless.
