Tonedeath is meant to be a tongue-in-cheek representation of the sultry lounge singer stereotype her creator loves so much. She takes much of her influence from swing music & musicians of the 40's & 50's.

♪♫♫♪ Personality ♪♫♫♪
Rigel Paquette is the epitome of a classy lady. Everything she does is done with perfect poise and grace. She is gorgeous, has all the curves in the right places and knows it. She often uses her charismatic persona and her physical attributes in combination to get what she wants without ever giving away anything of herself.
She is a charmer through and through, always quick with a smile and pleasant conversation to those she deems worth her while. Those worth her while, have something she wants.
Her tastes are expensive, as can be easily noted by the couture clothing and jewelry to adorns herself in. She is typically seen in long elegant gowns, never pants.
She is a talented singer, and aspires to make it to the 'big time' someday. Her current place of employment is the Stardust Casino in St. Martial where her sultry lounge singing is the headlining act.
When asked why she stays around the Isles, she'll tell you simply that the money is far better than Vegas. She considers it 'Hazard Pay'.
History
The Early Years
By the way Rigel carries and presents herself to the world around her, the first impression most people take away from her, is that she must be from a wealthy family background. Nothing could be further from the truth. She's worked incredibly hard to become the type of woman she wanted to be. Cultured and distinguished. This makes her somewhat of a rarity in a place like the Rogue Isles.
Rigel Emily Anders was born on April 26th, 1984 to Hazel Jeane & Tomas David Anders in Silverton, Oregon. Her early life was anything but glamorous. Her father was a construction worker and her mother stayed at home in their old farmhouse on 6 acres in a rural area of Silverton. Her earliest memories are of happily playing outside in the blooming cherry trees and among the flowers of her mother's garden on their property. Her mother and father were not well to do, but they loved each other and her very much, and it was not long until a little brother was on the way.
Her brother, Kieran, was born June 21st, just a few weeks after her 5th birthday, and she was ecstatic. She loved baby Kieran from the first moment she saw him, played with him and paid attention to him every moment she could. The family seemed perfect.
A little over a year later, the family took their first vacation, a car trip to the Oregon coast to see the Pacific Ocean.

Rigel's talent & charming demeanor, though usually a boon for her, was bound to cause her problems eventually in a place like St. Martial. And problems they did cause, arriving in the form of a man by the name of Louis "Lightning Fingers Lou" Fiorenzo. ( Work in progress )
Powers
Rigel's inherent mutant ability has given her some measure of control of sonic frequencies, which she has to date, mostly used in her singing to enhance her performances. Currently she does not admit using her powers publicly, mostly because she fears it might endanger her more than she already is simply by living in the Isles. Her range of control over her vocals spans subsonic to ultrasonic frequencies of which she has yet to learn the full extent of what her voice can do. Through trial and error in private, she has learned two skills on her own she can employ to protect others.
Sonic Barrier
By altering the vibrations of her voice, she is able to effectively 'tune' the tissues of a body or object for a short period of time, using it as a conduit for the soundwaves emitted. By doing this, the body or object gains a fair amount of resistance to physical harm.
Sonic Haven
Similar to her sonic barrier, but changing the pitch slightly, she can set up a second set of sonic vibrations in the body or object that plays in concert with the first. The two of these combined are able to not only deflect some physical attacks, but they can even offer some protection from heat, cold, negative, and energy based attacks.
Weakness
♪ Rigel is as frail and fragile as any other normal human female, making her easily susceptible to being hurt.
♪ The only place sound cannot travel is in a vacuum. Her powers as they are sound based, can travel through most materials, some obviously better than others. So long as there is something material for sound to travel through, it will.
♪ Wearing protective gear for the ears can mitigate some of the damage she will eventually be able to do to hearing.
♪ No telepathic resistance. Her mind is currently wide open, which she hates.

Allies
♪ Breaker - Seems like a nice fellow to her, for a skull-mask wearing creep. Though his nice demeanor doesn't usually extend to others as he delights in cutting people down with sharp remarks. Paid her a hefty sum to sing to him once. She has been seen chatting with him on many occasions since, as they seem to have a strange mutual respect for each other. She thinks he needs to get a more fashionable costume though.
♪ Don Giordano - Rigel finally had a meeting with the infamous Don Giordano. After telling him her tale, he agreed to extend protection of the family to her. He wanted to hear her perform as well, so she sang for those assembled in the restaurant at the time. Her performance seemed to please him and now she will be performing at Ristorante Giordano for special functions to pay for her protection. She genuinely respects him and enjoys his company.
♪ Zakath - He's a hulking creature with little to no social graces, but he means well, he's learning quite quickly, and after Rigel got done giving him a makeover - looks great in a tophat and suit. Normally she wouldn't be interested in talking to such a strange creature, but Zak seems to be an exception.

♪ RageBrood - The Shifter has earned her ire, and rightfully so. Rigel was having a rather pleasant dinner with Asceticism in a fancy restaurant atop one of the many casinos in St. Martial, when RageBrood in his shark form burst in and attacked them. After a brief struggle he tossed Asceticism over the balcony before her eyes, effectively bringing a close to their date. He then turned and grabbed Rigel, chloroformed her and took her to a remote spot deep in a Freakshow shanty town. Reviving her with smelling salts, he then proceeded to intimidate and interrogate her about the man known as Breaker and his connection to Graffiti Samurai, namely the reason he wanted to kill Graff. She was eventually left shaken, but unharmed after telling him what little she knew about Breaker, and was able to call Don Giordano to come get her. Thanks to a tip given to her by Grimblaze, she now knows his name and with whom he is associated.
Acquaintances
♪ The Thorn Bandit - Rigel met Ryu for the first time at the Restaurant after being brought there to hide, she instantly took a liking to how easily manipulated he seems to be. She attempted to coerce him into returning her stolen money from the Marcones by disbelieving his claims to being the 'greatest thief ever'. He returned the next evening with her money, proving he is in fact a pretty darn good thief in her eyes. Doesn't like his posterior-groping.
♪ Sovereign Fist- Met Ray in the open-air Tiki lounge in Martial one evening. Seems like a decent fellow. She doesn't really think he's cut out to be a monk. Once a player, always a player.
♪ Guitar Hero - Eddie, he's a pretty decent musician, when he can sit still long enough to play something mellow.
♪ Ironarms Murphy - The first impression Jack made on Rigel, wasn't exactly the best. He was rather blitzed, dancing and singing an Irish jig on the bar in Pocket D. She's since talked to him while he was sober, and likes him as he always has a nice compliment for her. His arms make pretty good mirrors.
♪ Asceticism - One of the few men Rigel can say she genuinely likes though to what extent, she will never tell of her own volition. Her interest in him stems mainly from intrigue, though she certainly does seem to find him quite pleasant to look at. Their conversations seem more like a wrestling match of wits as each seems to be trying to get leverage over the other. She watches the crowds at her performances in the hopes she might see him. She'll also never admit that, either.
♪ Graffiti Samurai - She doesn't know much about him, but he did fight a man who was pestering her for her affections one evening. Breaker also wants to kill him, setting her the challenge of charming him out of it, more to test her abilities than out of any real concern for Graff.
♪ Shade Wield - Finds him charming, too charming. She finds his demeanor nice for a change of pace but it puts her on point around him.
♪ Grimblaze - Rigel isn't sure what to make of this strange fellow yet, though he did provide her some very interesting information. Time will tell if she actually bothers to deliver his message though, as she's not happy about him associating her with Breaker.

- The name Rigel (Pronounced Rihyjull ) is taken from the brightest star in the constellation Orion and the sixth brightest star in the sky.
