Garnet Squadron
Garnet Squadron is the most unorthodox and unique of the four primary Squadrons. Just ask anyone, and they’ll say that the Garnetians are weird in how they operate. Which is understandable, because from the outside looking in, Garnet Squad seems disorganized, rowdy, and uncontrolled; which is far from the truth.
The major focus of Garnet Squad is the development of leaders, and that is done first and foremost from the small scale and worked up. Garnet is a Squadron that is broken up into little smaller segments by the Prefect called “Shards”. Each Shard consists of four students, one of which is a Shard Captain. Each Shard is meticulously organized and created to be a flexible and pliable unit in of themselves. The way Garnet likes to work is to have each individual Shard be given a mission, and it’s up to each Shard to complete that mission, independent of the others. So Each small group plays a small piece in a larger whole, orchestrated by the Prefect. However, Garnet enjoys giving its Shard Captains free reign in their ability to complete the tasks at hand, cutting out the need for excessive oversight and constant follow-ups. Shard Captains are chosen because they have shown the ability to lead, and the consistency to make smart choices.
The true benefit to this “disorganized” form of leadership shines when all the Shards work not only independently, but in cohesion towards the same goal. Because each Shard is intelligent and capable enough to act independently, competing against Garnet can be a maddening experience for many young Squadrons, as each movement by the small Shards is hard to predict and seemingly moves with no real purpose until the final brick has been laid in the foundation of the Garnetian plan. For while each Shard is independent, Garnet Prefects drill their Shards intensely on working together and backing each other up, even if no orders have been given.
Overall, Garnetians prize quick thinking, sound judgement, and teamwork above all else. Their use of independent Shard groups to meet objectives results in many of the Garnet students having the ability to lead small teams in many different scenarios, and work well and cohesively together, even if they cannot communicate to their Prefect.

Leon Kramer | Prefect | Junior | 16 | Leon's arms and legs and a few internal organs have been replaced and/or improved by mechanical augmentations. | Intelligent and observant, Leon is rarely seen without his notepad - carefully studying and analyzing the situation around him. |
Rin Kudou | Cadet | Freshman | 16 | Rin can create doubles of objects she sees after some concentration, though, the quality is significantly lesser than the original | Outgoing, playful and hyper Rin is certainly one of the loudest students on campus - confident in her abilities almost enough to carry the burden they entail |
Kimberly Hall | Cadet | Freshman | 14 | Due to Kimber's training she has the ability to block people's chi through a series of pressure points rendering them immobile, unconscious, or sometimes unable to full access their powers | Pleasantly cheerful if a bit bubble-headed and perhaps in her own little universe, Kimber looks on the bright side of life no matter what side she's on. |

Obsidian Squadron
Obsidian Squadron is sometimes viewed as the most controversial squadron at Blackstone Hills Preparatory School. Their Prefects are usually the ones that earn the most detentions at the end of the year, and fights break out within their ranks everyday. They often get the worst grades, and cause the school the most property damage on their patrols. But theres more to Obsidian than just the trouble they cause.
Obsidian Squad prides itself on being one of the original squadrons created at Blackstone. They're status displays symbolic perseverance, one of the many qualities each of it's members exhibits. Obsidian Squad members are highly encouraged to never give up, even at the sacrifice of one's personal well being. Whats good for the squad is good for you.
Theres not a single person on Obsidian that doesn't love to patrol. Whether they're driven by fame, fortune, or just the sheer pleasure of bashing someones head in and getting patted on the back for it, Obsidian Squad's members are often pretty adept at fighting crime.
The ends justify the means when you're an Obsidian. You do something if you have to, no matter what, even if it means sacrificing a little piece of yourself to get the best overall result.
But no quality is stronger appreciated in an Obsidian then their loyalty. Every Obsidian has each others back. There have been no mutinies against Prefects, no challenging bids on green students, and there has not been a single fight thats resulted in a loss of friendship between members. Obsidian is a family, and most believe thats the only reason they are one of the primary squads to date.

Derek Normandy | Prefect | Sophomore | 16 | Derek has developed both powers from his parents; becoming more durable, able to shield himself with fire, and super strong | Egotistical, confident and charming, Derek leads the Obsidian Squadron as almost a cult of personality, keeping his enemies close and his friends at a comfortable, safe arms distance |
Dylan Halifax | Cadet | Sophomore | 16 | Despite being a shapeshifter who can change her appearance to most humanoids (albeit her eye color and certain other features never change), she mostly uses her boxing, archery, mixed martial art, and marksman skills in combat | Snarky, passionate, vivacious, and very intense, Dylan isn't afraid to speak her mind or be kind of a bitch, even though in the inside shes a bit of a softie. |
Ingrid Lindstrom | Cadet | Junior | 16 | Ingrid can draw runes of power along herself to augment her physical capabilities | With her dry sense of humor and witty comebacks, Ingrid's cutting remarks strike down her enemies almost as well as her augmented fists. |

Topaz Squadron
There is little question that the legacy of Topaz Squadron is its exacting perfection. Its prefects are frequently valedictorians of their class and every single one has gotten into their first choice university after graduation. Their grade point averages are typically the highest of all of the squadrons, they almost always win points for best kept house and in the entire time of its history the whole of Topaz has had less than 5 infractions for uniform appearance. Perfection brooks no weakness and despite the quietly sedate attitude of their group Topaz traditionally has very little desire to suffer fools in their ranks. All the hard work and sweat happens behind closed doors so that when the spotlight shines on them, everything they achieve seems practically effortless.
All of that strife typically pays off. If a Topaz isn't prepared for everything they will be if you give them thirty seconds, and the upperclassmen are fond of repeating the adage 'Adapt or Die' to younger students who seem as if they're on the edge of giving up. From there it's a matter of time of noticing the little things; "Don't let me catch you's" and "While I'm here's" that have more meaning. And at that moment a true Topaz is made.
While certainly rewarding logic, deep consideration and intelligence there is no trait more valued in Topaz than cleverness. They boast that no strategy has ever worked against Topaz twice and this is more than just an idle comment: the ability of the squadron to assemilate new information, analyze it and adapt due to their constant preparation for any upcoming situation is second to none. A Topaz with a minute to plan is good. A Topaz with a week to plan is amazing. A Topaz with a month to plan is nigh unstoppable. If it hasn't been disallowed, then, it's a tool to be used. Adapt or die. Be. Perfect.

Kanon Fujiwara | Prefect | Sophomore | 15 | Kanon is both telepathic and telekinetic with growing powers of suggestion | Almost robotic in her focus and calm, Kanon is a precise, organized, and intelligent young woman with a slight bit of a ghoulish side, willing to manipulate rules and situations to suit her and Topaz Squadron best. |
Willow Lambert | Cadet | Sophomore | 15 | Willow can both speak and control plants, having a close personal relationship with them due to her nature | Personality Goes Here |
Vergil Oliver | Cadet | Grade | Age | Powers Go Here | Personality Goes Here |
Kyle Naylor | Cadet | Sophomore | 16 | The ability to manipulate and expand his shadow into becoming almost any tangible object as well developing minor Clairvoyance. | Kyle actively avoids the spotlight, usually taking a nap or shrugging his shoulders when called on in class, which leads to his teachers and classmates to think he's just lazy. That might even be true, but it doesn't explain how is grades are still above average. And he doesn't seem motivated enough to cheat... |
