Shining Centurion
From Unofficial Handbook of the Virtue Universe
- ... And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness....
- - Book of Genesis 1:3&4
The Shining Centurion Is a homage to both the Green Lantern of DC comics, and the Lensman saga created by Edward Elmer "Doc" Smith. He was created a full year and a half before the Blue Lanterns of the DC comics first showed up. This page is still under construction.

Personality
Powers
The Shining Centurion has had a neuro-mesh grafted to his body which allows him to tap into the ambient energies of the universe. This manifests itself as a multitude of energy and light based powers, including but not limited to;
-Energy Blasts -Increased Strength and Invulnerability -Energy Shields and objects of "solid light" -Flight -Survival in vacuum/deep space -Healing ability
The Shining Centurions are all equipped with a "Beacon", which manifests as a glowing blue orb. This "Beacon" is a remote link to the Centurion Homeworld Central Intelligence. The Beacon allows it's Centurion to access the nigh-limitless knowledge of the Centurion Homeworld libraries, as well as communicate with the Central Intelligence itself.
The Centurions are all equipped with a "Standard" as well. This is a glowing staff, with which the Centurions can channel their energy powers, although they do not need it to do so. The Standard is more a badge of office, and it's glowing blue orb at the top of the staff is a symbol of the Centurion Legion. The Standard also serves as a balance, and extension of the Centurions' powers, and serves to assist the Centurions in their deep space travels by providing additional propulsion and shield abilities.
Mundane Abilities
Lt. Col Fuller is cleared to pilot most modern combat aircraft, as well as cargo and personnel transport aircraft. He also has over 2000 hours of logged flight testing. Lt. Col. Fuller has flown escort to transport missions during both Desert Shield and Desert Storm operations, as well as airlift pilot with the AMC (Air Mobility Command). LT. Col. Fuller was also an NASA pilot, having been recommended by a friend at NASA when he was considering retiring from active duty from the 21st EMTF at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey. Lt. Col. Fuller holds a M.Sc. in Physics, and has undergone extensive physical and psychological training necessary for his work with NASA.
Weaknesses and Limitations
If Lt. Col. Fuller were to somehow be separated from his Microweb Neuro-net Embed, his human form would no longer be granted access to the fundamental light of the universe known as "First Light", and would be a normal human being. Also, powered people with the ability to generate unnatural, or preternatural darkness have been shown to sometimes interrupt Lt. Col. Fuller's connection to his other-dimensional power source.
Character History
Lt. Col Nathan Fuller was born in Poughkeepsie New York on 08/08/1964. His father, also an airman, was stationed at the Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst in New Jersey, where Nate first fell in love with flying. Nathan dedicated himself to the study of aeronautics and physics at a young age, hoping to one day become an astronaut. As soon as he was able, Fuller enlisted and began his love affair with the sky. Fuller also met a young woman named Constance Griswold while on leave, and found his second love. They courted through mail and weekend leave visits, and were eventually married on June 16th, 1982. The following summer, Mrs. Fuller gave birth to their daughter, Emily. During the Desert Storm operation, Fuller was stationed at the Ahmed Al Jaber Air Base in Kuwait. On return from a standard cargo transport, Fuller received word that his wife and daughter were killed in a car accident on I-95, while coming home from a visit with family in Newport, RI. Fuller was granted leave, and came home to mourn. Once operation in Iraq was over, Fuller returned to base in New Jersey, where his father was once stationed. While there, Fuller ran test flights for the USAF for the next few years. Fuller gained a reputation for recklessness due to the loss of his family, making him somewhat unpopular with the command. Fuller also turned to alcohol to deal with his grief, but eventually sought help for his problem and was able to turn it around. After his tour was up, Fuller decided to leave the military for good, and was about to put in for retirement when a friend recommended him for Mission Command with NASA. Fuller saw this as an opportunity to turn his life around, and dove into his work full force.
