Character Background
David Murphy, a veteran weatherman for Channel 4 News Paragon City for 18 years, made a costly mistake fifteen years ago that would forever change his life. Paragon City was in the beginning stages of a Nor'easter formed by an area of vorticity associated with an upper level disturbance. This particular storm was extraordinarily slow moving and extremely intense. In an effort to improve his standing with the public as Paragon's premier meteorologist and boost ratings for Channel 4 News, David decided to report on the effects of the Nor'easter live in an open field in the middle of the storm.
During the broadcast, the winds were howling fiercely accompanied by rain falling at a tremendous rate that promised flash flooding throughout the city. Yet, conditions were not unlike so many storms David had encountered over his many years as a weatherman. Suddenly and without warning, David was hit by three lightning bolts simultaneously. Thrown 50 feet through the air, David was rushed to the hospital where he lied in critical condition, unconscious for four days. Many thought he'd never recover. All were amazed he was still alive. Yet to everyone's surprise, he was back to "normal" within a week, but from that point things were never the same...
Soon thereafter, David discovered an innate, latent magical ability to control the elements at the atomic level heretofore undiscovered that was awakened by the accident . Given completely over to the study of his magic, David quit his job, forsaking his former life and lived as a hermit and recluse in a cave outside Paragon City for seven years, meticulously studying and perfecting the art of elemental control. Not only did he become a master of his craft, he could control the very atoms of which the elements consists.
Making a conscious decision to serve mankind and vowing to use his powers for the greater good, he returns to the civilization once more, David Murphy no longer. He has become the spokesman and de facto leader of "The Six Pillars of Justice" while simultaneously joining forces with The People's Vanguard.
Villains now fear the one who has mastered the subjugation of the forces of nature, the one who is able to bend the elements to his will, the one they call the "Elemental Master."
Affiliations
"The Six Pillars of Justice"
A rapid-response team comprised of the world's most powerful and diverse heroes containing a Defender, a Blaster, a Tanker, a Scrapper, a Controller, and a Kheldian. Individually, few are their equal, but collectively they are a force that is nigh unstoppable. Dedicated to stopping the enemy by using more "persuasive" means then Statesman and the Freedom Phalanx would publicly sanction, together, these six superheroes are capable of handling almost any threat conceived. Their motto: Whether villains are brought to justice or justice is villains, make no mistake — justice will be served!.
As the spokesman for the team, ElementalMaster's command of the elements brings a vast arsenal of powers to break down the defenses of any villain. He is the conscience of the team and brings a level-headed balance and clear thinking to the group.

When ElementalMaster caught Sanil Kadesh ("Nightblade") in the act of torturing and killing alocal street thug, ElementalMaster tried to subdue Sanil and turn him over to the authorities. In a surprise move, Sanil summoned a being of dark energy that launched a vicious attack at ElementalMaster. It landed a glancing blow that knocked him temporarily unconscious. Sanil promptly escaped.
Vowing to perpetually destroy everything ElementalMaster seeks to build -- his reputation, his sanity, his life -- Sanil has become his mortal enemy and assumed the dreaded name: BetrayerOfHope.
The next time they meet, ElementalMaster is determined not be caught unaware again. He will be brought to justice. This time it's personal.
