Havoc Star has a variety of powerful tools at her disposal. She does not have any real "powers", as her abilities are either trained or derived from the use of technology or magical artifacts.
Katana
Unlike many other sword-weilders in Paragon and the Isles, Melody has no special connection or story about her sword(s). She actually seems to take pride in this, and often seems aloof when others explain the extra-special "history" of their weapon. Havoc Star frequently orders a gross of swords from China for a minimal price, as she tends to break them on tougher enemies such as Robots or Armored foes.
Amulet of Justice
This attractive amulet of ruby and topaz made by Justice Jon was given to Melody in response to an attack made on her mind by an unnamed villain. The power of the amulet is limited to protective and preventative measures, but it has proven useful time and again. The gemstones, magical in nature, activate when psychic energy of any kind is directed at Melody, and some simple mental shields are provided.
Reflexes and Martial Training
Trained by an infamous catburgler of the 1970's during one of her stints in prison, Havoc Star is an expert at avoidance techniques and other defensive measures. Until recently, this has not extended to offensive skill, though she has indeed been practicing.
Crey Power Armor
Her first big "Score", this Lockhart/Crey creation has been the backbone of Havoc Star's arsenal. Combining experimental sciences dealing with energy manipulation and kinetic applications, this armor is potent. As of this reporting, the following attributes have been connected with this experimental armor:
- Kinetic Acceleration: One of two alternate sets of boots, this edition can reach speeds rivaling real speedsters, though the automatic sensory system cannot keep up with the speeds as well as true speed freaks can naturally. The kinetic boosters also allow for assisted leaping for greater mobility.
- Rocket powered mobility: The other alternate of the suit's boots, these sport rocket thrusters capable of lifting and moving up to a full ton of weight, or reaching extreme speeds and altitudes.
- Energy Enhanced Melee: The gauntlets of this powerful creation can draw energy from their own power cells, causing the wearer's touch, or punch, to discharge a powerful burst, likely causing extreme damage. It also appears that more delicate manipulation of the stored energy is possible, allowing the wearer to cut through obstacles and even something as frail as cloth without causing collateral damage.
- Energy Expulsion: The powerful gauntlets are also known to expel extreme bursts of laser-like energy with great range and accuracy. This appears to be a sidethought of the developers, though, as it appears to be a secondary function for support and cover fire.
- Kinetic Shielding: The heart of the suit, as well as the fuel cell, seems to be located in the belt. This device is able to surround the wearer in a protective coating to slow bullets and other projectiles and attacks to a halt. When this function is active, though, extra power seems to be drawn from the gauntlet's internal supply, limiting the wearer to use of mobility and melee functions. A small price to pay to be nearly invulnerable, though.
- Electricity Manipulation: The main power cell and secondary/tertiary units have the ability to draw and manipulate electricity from the wearer's surroundings. It is currently unclear whether this is to recharge the power cells, or to increase the current running system's efficiency.
Affiliations
- Sovereign Fist: Ray is very much Melody's best friend. Quite possibly, Ray has also taken more abuse from Melody than any of her other friends, or even enemies. Their relationship seems to be ever changing, from anger and hate to warmth and love. They have been lovers from time to time, and bitter enemies at other times, but Ray and Melody always seem to end up back together in some manner. Melody is certain that no matter what happens, Ray will always be there.
- Justice Jon: An ex-boyfriend and a source of some regret, Melody sees Justice Jon as the ever-typical good boy. She was attracted to him at first simply because of his outward friendliness, which she finds rare anywhere. But, as time wore on, Jon and Melody had problems, first with lies, then with far too much distance, eventually causing them to drift apart completely. Melody still cares for Jon a great deal, but is wary of anything more than a friendship, simply because she does not want to repeat the past.
- Thag Zhug: Thag Zhug, a father figure? Older brother? Big teddy bear? Melody has never put a label on her friendship with this foreign Ogre. She sees him with great respect, and shares a kinship that neither has ever put into words. Thag was the first to be ready for action when Melody was in trouble, and the only one who could stand up to her when she was the cause of the trouble. Melody feels that she will always have a debt to repay this heroic, friendly, and downright funny friend.
- Sentinel Omega: The other Jon. Melody has always been "friends" with Sentinel Omega, but mostly due to his closeness to her other friends. She finds him a little boring, but since he isn't annoying, she doesn't seem to mind his presence.
- Lunarwind: An enigma to Melody, Lunarwind has always caused confusion. Melody's weakness to mind control, well known to Lunarwind, has caused several "funny" incidents. It is a good thing Melody has never found out about them...
- Kat Kisses: One of Melody's very best friends, Kat Kisses is an oddity. Melody has proclaimed a general dislike of the catgirl population, but for some reason, this little scamp has caught the soft spots in her heart. Kat is one of the few of Melody's friends that came to her aid in times of great need, and she will always have a special place in her heart.
- Black Starbeam: Also fondly known as "Beamer", Black Starbeam was at one time Melody's boss in Paragon. She sees him as a typical authority figure, but has a great respect for him and the rest of his team, The Reciprocators. She doesn't envy his position, though...
- The Thorn Bandit: Ryu. Oh Ryu. How Melody loves and loathes this childish, arrogant thief. She met this rogue during her undercover work as Harmony, and has regretted it ever since. Strangely, there has always been a spark between them, though nothing has ever come of it. Of course, if things were different...
- Chase Styles: Chase is another oddity among Melody's friends. Normally, this happy-go-lucky helpful martial artist would be at the top of her hate list. But he had the willingness to talk to her and help her during a very dark time in her life, and has since and forever been her friend. She seems to find it necessary to defend him when others make fun of his strange nature, yet another strange occurance.
- Chill Yeti: Blake is a teenager in a man's body. Melody has mixed feelings for this strange man, and at times she has even felt romantically inclined with him, but his attitude and outlook always gets the best of her. For now, she's happy with having him as a friend and nothing more.
- Kichi: Known to Melody as "Ray's sister", Kichi is, at best, an acquaintance. Melody really doesn't like this one, though she would never let on about that fact, believing it could damage her relationship with other friends. She sees Kichi as a cold villain, perhaps even as a murderer. But, for now, she is leaving well enough alone.
- Sungazer: Sungazer is Melody's arch nemesis of practical and impractical jokes. She sees him as just that, though, another joke. But, hey, he passes the time and is good for a chat.
- Reiraku: Purple haired lez. Melody hates this girl fervently, and goes out of her way to insult her at every opportunity.
- Run Riot: Big, bald, over-dramatic and annoying, Melody severely dislikes this man. She has fought with him on one occasion, and won, but since she has left him alone, feeling that she has already proven who really matters.
- Sixty Watt: IS NOT AS FRIGGEN AWESOME AS THE HAVOC STAR.
- Tera Volta: Some crazy cyclops that had a crush on Ray, Melody barely bothers to acknowledge her existance. But, since she is around Ray from time to time, Melody tries to remain civil. Besides, Ray is kind of a loser, he needs more friends.
- Annabell: The Sovereign Fist's dead ex-girlfriend. Melody thinks she sounds like some sort of wannabe princess of the undead, since she's apparently still alive. This has caused several fights between Melody and Ray, as Melody is not entirely sensitive about the issue. But, then again, what's the issue, she was freaking DEAD.
- DoubleTime: Snarky and annoying, Melody likes this speedy kid. But this is mostly from a perspective of usefulness, since he seems to have an affinity with Crey technology, which is key to Melody's success.
- Fearghas: At one time, Melody hated this man simply because he was a mercenary. A friend to the Sovereign Fist, Melody found it incredibly insulting that Fearghas would take a job to strike at his friend Ray. She hasn't entirely forgiven him, but things have become civil since the man hasn't come around much since.
- XM Radio: Rocking bartender at pocket D, and also a decent friend. Melody likes him mostly because he's cute, and a good listener.
