The Menace X Project
- Menace Force Kappa - A young man who is part of a secret paramilitary group, he is also too similar to Lyo for it to be chance alone.
- Menace Beta - One of the leaders of the Menace Project, with whom Lyonis had a fateful encounter on one rainy night.
The Menace X Project
Lyo's attention; along with that of others, has been recently drawn to the denizens of The Menace X Project. Although the project is top secret, Lyo met one of its operatives, Menace Force Kappa. The two got along, and more importantly, realized a string of uncanny similarities between themselves. Not the least of which is that Kappa looked like a dead ringer for Lyonis's father, Dark Xion. Lyo fears, though, that Kappa may be in over his head; especially after confronting his father about Kappa, their meetings, and their similarities. Dark Xion offered Lyonis a deal to forget about looking into the Menace X project, which only made the boy more certain that something underhanded has been going on in the isles while he was at school in Paragon...
Personality
Lyo's sister, Madeline, sleeps well at night, devoutly secure in her belief that she's human. No matter what changes might happen to her body or powers, she has a strong sense of self that can't be destroyed. Lyonis lacks that certainty. He's conflicted by nature, unable to accept the simple fact that he is Himself without question. A lot, if not all, of that uncertainty comes from not knowing if he's more demonic or more human, or entirely one or the other. Lyo can fluctuate from being insecure to arrogant, and from being cunning to utterly impulsive; partly influenced by who he's around. He hates being used, and hates being disreguarded. He can be a bit of a control freak, but he's quick to lose his cool when challanged by the right insults...
Character History
Backstory
Lyonis Basil Xion was born in port oakes, but spent most of his childhood growing up in Paragon. He was shy, with bright inquisitive eyes, a deep seated need to know how things in the world worked, and a constant sence of curiosity. He excelled in school, but was never completely happy there. So, Ahead of his class, he took some time off and returned to Port Oakes before graduation. It was there he met Ninjen, Kylara, and Everlasting Glory. And, Eventually, Xandros. Lyo cheerfully ran amok on the isles, high spiritedly comitting minor crimes, with no real worry for the consequences. Eventually, he returned to Paragon just long enough to finish school.
Past Events
Lyo returned to the isles with his diploma, and found that most of his little gang of trouble makers had either been dispersed or caught. Wandering around Oakes aimlessly led him to run into Xandros. Lyo was surprised that the lost Celestial was still in the isles, and even more surprised that the awkward sence of tension he'd always felt around Xan had only doubled while he'd been gone. Xan and Lyo met up a few more times, each time feeling more annoyingly charged than the last. Not sure if the feelings were returned, or if they were even geniuine and not a result of their conflicting spiritual energies colliding, Lyonis finally snapped and acted out on his feelings, kissing Xan with all the frustration and passion that only a teenaged demon can build up. To his shock, despite the celestial's uptight upbringing, Xan reacted favorably. Now, perhaps a little more than just friends, the two continued to raise hell and trouble throughout Oakes.
Current Story
Recently, while wandering near the arena looking for a break, Lyo ran across a strange group of soldiers. To his shock, one of them looked -exactly- like his father; so he chased after them, and finally cornered two of them to talk. The ringer turned out to be Menace Force Kappa, a boy barely a few years older than Lyo himself. Kappa wasn't sure -why- he looked like Dark Xion, but he knew the name sounded familiar. And, more importantly, he felt an instant affinity with Lyo. The two shared the same abilities, same interests, even many of the same manerisms. So, Kappa quickly became one of Lyo's closest friends, despite the orders from his superior officer to avoid contact. Meanwhile, Lyo's relationship with Xan continued to deepen. While both of them were too shy to take it to the next step, they had to admit that their feelings were more than just colliding energies. Lyo came to trust Xan almost blindly, and the feeling was mutual. Late one night, Xan found Lyo outside, alone in Oakes. Dark Xion had come home injured, and attacked Lyo with a string of ominous yet vague threats. Before Xan could figure out what had happened, the ninja Tanshin came to find Lyonis. Tanshin had been hunting Madge and Lyo for months, insisting that it was his duty to raise and prepare Xion's offspring for some sort of horribe destiny. But now, he came with a new question. He wanted to know about Menace X, Kappa's group; and Dark Xion's involvement with it. Lyonis defied him, really with no choice, he didn't have the answers Tanshin wanted. Tanshin decided to torture him, by forcing Lyo to attack Xan. What Lyo didn't know was that the attack was an illusion. So, when he came to and realized Xan was unharmed; that it had all been a lie, that he had betrayed Xan in his mind for nothing, Lyo felt ashamed, horrified, wortheless, and betrayed by the one person in the Isles he'd thought he could trust. Unable to meet Xan's eyes or hear him out, Lyonis fled to the tallest building in Oakes to vent his rage and pain from the last few days. As a monsoon storm raged across Port Oakes, flinging lightning across the sky and drowning the city in rain, Lyo was found by more than he'd expected. Menace Beta. One of the leaders of Menace X project. A man whom Lyo only knew from Kappa's paralyzed fear of him. Beta -knew- that Lyo was one of the interlopers he'd vowed to capture at any costs; however, he had not expected to find one of the Xions in this sort of state. Lyonis didn't know anything but his own pain, so, blindly he attached to Beta for any comfort that the twisted leader of Menace X was not equipped to give. Drawn to the brutally honest emotional outpouring, Beta stayed by his side; even doing his haughty best to comfort the boy. And then, when Lyo looked up into those pained, arrogant, shattered eyes; something in his own head snapped. He had been betrayed, he had failed those he cared most about. He had been used, and severely hurt. And Beta had gone through much worse, and survived. Irrational, still crying, Lyonis made an advance on Beta that the soldier was too nieve to resist. When morning came, Lyonis was alone, cold, and sore in a hundred different ways. And faced with the nightmare choice of lying to the one he loved, or breaking Xan's heart by telling him the truth and paying the consequences. Not a Liar, and knowing it would be far worse if Xan found out later, Lyo went to find him, and admit the truth of what he'd done. Xan's reaction was what was to be expected; and Lyo was painfully willing to accept whatever judgement his lover decided to dish out.. but he coudn't leave. He didn't want to leave if there was any chance Xan would forgive him; and he was incapable of leaving while Xan was still crying with the same fervor he'd felt the night before... so he stayed, and comforted the one he'd hurt untill they could reconsile. Now, a ragged and broken road to redemption lays before him. And even as Xandros grants him absolution;neither one has thought much about what that means on the larger scale. Of course, things never remain simple. Very recently, Myriel, Xan's former mentor, came to the isles hunting for his wayward angel..
Powers
Like his sister, Lyo's powers are strongly demonic. He has the ability to project flames, raining fire down on his enemies. He also has strong ties to the netherworld, able to sap the virility out of foes while helping his allies.
Vulnerabilities
Lyo's attacks tend to attract a lot of negative attention, which he can't survive for long. Also, since he tends to leap in to a fight throwing every punch he has, he tires quickly.
Rogue Gallery
- Narsaphrel : He hurt Xan. It doesn't matter WHO he is, or how he can justify it, -noone- gets away with that!
former enemies
- Tanshin : A ninja, he claims it was his family's duty to raise Madeline and prepare her for her destiny. He wants control over Madeline, and he'll stop at nothing to get it. I can't be used as a substitute, the only use he has for me is as bait for a trap. I think, he's really unhappy with what he feels he has to do. If I think kindly of him, I can pretend he's trying to spare me from a painful fate by driving me away. He told me that her wants, and even his own wants, have nothing to do with what must be done. I don't know what to believe about him. But, I think he's terribly unhappy.
- Ninjen : He's a punk. It seems like everytime we work together I end up fighting with him, even when I've sworn not to. Is that my nature, or his, that makes us clash so much?

Creator Notes and Trivia
Lyo came into my head as someone off screen for Maddy to play off of. He's kindof developed from there, growing his own convoluted sort of story arc...
